Devs do realize we are expecting sailing from Dawntrail?

I'm not sure if our engine is able to support sailing or sea exploration like ArcheAge, BDO or Lost Ark. If they do it, i would like to see it as a experiment to individual submarine voyages and i hope they don't use it as a excuse to eliminate another type of content like they did with Island Sanctuary.

What did they eliminate, using IS as an excuse?

Because if you're thinking a new exploratory zone, IS didn't replace that.

I would be surprised if they can get any closer than "roleplaying mission with ship instead of a player model", and that wouldn't move convincingly at all.

The only sailing we've done so far is "on rails" in dungeons like the Sirensong Sea.

In any case, this isn't being portrayed as an ocean-faring or pirate-themed expansion at all. We're in for a trek through the jungle and mountains. Maybe we'll get one beach zone and a pirate-themed story for the still-hypothetical corsair job, but that's not at all what the teaser suggested to be the focus of the whole expansion.

Personally, I'm glad they aren't trying to do some other big, apocalyptical threat. They tried to chase ShB's success with EW and got a mixed-results (at best). (๑❛ꇳ❛๑)

They finished the story they started 10 years ago. This threat was a part of that story. Now we have a new story so it will be chill. I guarantee you and bet my nut sack that people will complain hard about that too. These forums are all about complaining. Its good for the entertainment value and that is about it. I am sure SE sees it the same way.

In terms of development, yes, it does: continuous delivering and always expanding area separated from the normal content.

They replaced combat with gathering.

You can actually swim in far far more zones now - even Outer La Noscea now has swimming and diving in Bronze Lake (not that there is anything down there at the lake's bottom and it's completely empty of anything interesting - I checked).

I think there are spearfishing spots down there, but you won't see them unless you've got the job equipped.
