You can practice Tank/Heal roles by going with npcs first.
Knowing the fights in advance will help you a lot..
as the unknown get's less unknown
=> which is the main cause of the anxiety.

I think what you're referring to OP is performance anxiety and it doesn't matter if its a interview, meeting or video game it affects people in different ways and I know you are a troll but you make posts defending these things and now you are attacking them. Why are you at the bottom of your barrel...why do you give us one decent thread then 20 bad ones. I suffer with anxiety in my day to day not enough to actually cause issue, I tank, I heal in game content no problem sometimes it is just taking that first step. Thankfully for the most part this community is kind enough to let players who are scared of that first step take it with a guided hand (Not all the time mind you)
This is not a thread to make and regardless of trolling or sarcasm or whatever...really need to be better than this.

I dont know how can people be nervous or anxious at all I never had this problem in my life to be honest I rather laugh at stressful situations and mock, when I started tanking in ff14 whatever raid or trial I always wanted to main tankHow the hell is this real? How can people unironically get so anxious they freak out at the thought of having to heal Sastasha? Why do people get overwhelmed so much in this game? Why is it that every other pug I join someone will broadcast their anxiety going like "sorry i'm too scared to heal >.<"
Everyone in FF14 needs to control their emotions and read Marcus Aurelius!!!
(Edit: Basically I play the cocky over confident tank)

If you really don't understand it then I suppose you're just unique. Going through life never having any fear or hesitation whatsoever. Most people aren't like that.
Because they are unaware of how easy it is because they are new. It is also not just the healing that makes them anxious, but the fear of how people will treat them if they do it wrong and let someone die.How can people unironically get so anxious they freak out at the thought of having to heal Sastasha?
Because casual. They don't know every little detail of the game like you. Their /playtime is on average under 300 days. Why do people get overwhelmed so much in this game?

some of those 90 dungeons get really hairy with on the fly skill use, it gets even worse when the groups decides to abuse emotes on you. been there, and they wonder why tanks and healers are always in need.

I mean if they're new to the genre, or relatively new to gaming itself, then I can somewhat get behind it, as being a remotely bordering rational thought to cross the mind.
A little more irrational if one is experienced, however.
But people will be people regardless.
Not really. Even very experienced people can get nervous doing something new. Some people even get performance anxiety with things they've done dozens or hundreds of times. Most people develop coping mechanisms, but that doesn't mean the fear or anxiety is gone, it just means they've managed to figure out ways of suppressing or controlling it. When I was in the military, I would always get nervous before drills/exams, even knowing I would pass them. Out of the military as a volunteer fireman, I can go into burning fields of grassfires or woodland fires and just deal with them, but I get nervous if we're going to a school where we'll be tested.
Every Human is unique in this regard, and what specific things set them off. I'm so much more natural with healing, it's the one role I can que up for and NOT be nervous. I get nervous quing up as DPS and don't see how people see it as the less stressful role, as I'm acutely aware every single time I make some kind of mistake in my rotation and mentally slapping myself over it or blaming myself if we don't beat the Enrage.
The most rare is the person who has no fear, and often, there's actually a mental issue there. On the far end are people with petrifying fears, where they legitimately cannot even leave their homes. The majority fall in the middle, where they have fear but have learned to control it over time and cope with it, but it still exists and still gets to them in certain situations.
Is it irrational?
Probably, just like people fearing the dark or fearing death are, strictly speaking, irrational. (Of the two, fearing the dark is more rational, oddly enough). But that makes it no less real. The phantoms of our minds are often times more powerful than what reality itself can throw at us.

I can understand people not wanting to heal or tank because of the responsibility. But what I don't understand is people having full on meltdowns over the mere thought of the roles.

How can you be very experienced at something you are new at?
True, but I had it when I started the game and now I have done well over 10,000 duties. At a certain point in that journey to 10,000, probably very early on, you just can't have anxiety healing an FFXIV dungeon anymore. They are ridiculously braindead to heal. Even doing DPS most of the time is not much risk, but if you are spamming heals there is no way you're going to let people die. Most people develop coping mechanisms, but that doesn't mean the fear or anxiety is gone, it just means they've managed to figure out ways of suppressing or controlling it.
I still get it sometimes with PF, extreme or savage so I know what you mean. You can know that you are good at something and will normally 1 shot it but there is still a risk of messing up and then you have let them down. When I was in the military, I would always get nervous before drills/exams, even knowing I would pass them.
But there is a big difference between healing Sastasha and doing extreme/savage...
