One of the things I liked about Vanguard back in the day, was the player made boats you could make/buy and sail around in.

I know this probably wouldn't be possible in 14 but I'd kill for a sailing system similar to Black Desert's.

Fortnite Battle Pass...

First, I wish this didn't need to be said, but you don't need a world-ending threat to have a good story, even if that story involves combat. A world-ending threat is an easy shortcut to creating stakes, but it is far from a requirement.
Second, the more often there's a world-ending threat, the less meaningful each one is. You don't want world-ending threats to seem everyday. Balance and pacing is important. I hope we have an expansion without such a threat after the intensity of the previous two expansions; it will be good to recalibrate.
Third, we don't even have a confirmation that there won't be a world-ending threat. We've seen like 33% of a trailer and some people are already acting like they know what's not going to be in the remaining 67% — let alone the actual full game. Players' narrative expectations were totally thrown by Endwalker's first trial; believe you can predict what's coming at your own peril.
My advice is not to stress over speculation. There will be plenty of time to judge what the expansion does and doesn't have once you've actually played it.

Ok...but if we are pirates...are we going to be sexy pirates like in Pirates of the Caribbean?

Or even sexier pirates...like in Hook?

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
Well... there is also a starship... so we could also be Bodacious Space Pirates... >.>Ok...but if we are pirates...are we going to be sexy pirates like in Pirates of the Caribbean?

It's Final Fantasy, there is always some world threatening or ending entity or force behind the scenes ultimately. Stopping an apocalypse from occuring is a fundamental part of the series, and DT will probably end up leading to one as well despite the more upbeat and laidback introduction (calling it now, there's probably one of the Sundered Ascians like Deudalphron or Altima hiding out in Tural eager for revenge about Zodiark's destruction, and that they are conspiring to awaken some remnant power from millenia ago there and has to be stopped for the good of the world).First, I wish this didn't need to be said, but you don't need a world-ending threat to have a good story, even if that story involves combat. Of course it could be something completely out of left field too. But we're definetely going to have to deal with some world-ending threat by the end, it's FF.
