I hate it too tbh... same with the Axolotl from the Anabaseos tier.
I wanted it to be at least related to the Lynxes

Err... I'm sorry what mount are we complaining about? is there a screenshot or a slide from 6.5 that I missed?
...It sucks...
At worst i thought we were gonna get a voltron-like mount. This is ... insanely worse. At least give us CAT/LYNX related... Zero motivation to do the rest of the ex's if THAT is what the mount will be.
the dragon is a nice mount, if they added it in any other way people would love it way more.
achievement vendor for exemple... do people even remember that was a thing once before a time?
and i too, expected an epic looking, legendary cat like mount.
i was like: 'oh, what a nice mount... wait what? how do we get that?... but what about the epic cat?'![]()

This "random dragon" is Bahamut btw, based off old pixel art from ff4 and later the inspiration for ff7's bahamut, so yeah not so random and fits just fine considering that patch story has basically been ff4's..
I understand the sentiment. However, what makes someone farm for a mount, before they even know what it is going to be?
There are collectors, who probably want the mount anyways, no matter what it is.
Then there is people who simply like the multiple recolorings of whichever mount is the trial one for that expansion.
But how can it be surprising, that farming for something of unknown design, has the potential to result in disapointment? People might say "but a dragon is not related to those mounts at all", and they'd be correct. However - imagine it was something unrelated, but those same people find THAT specific mount super duper mega stylish: would they still complain about the mount being unrelated? Probably not!
Which is why this is more of a "I don't like the mount" argument.
And it's ok not to like something. This is what farming for a random mount of unknown design is, though.
I guess an argument could be made, that developers should publish the mount's design beforehand, to allow players to decide if it's worth the trouble or not.
How does a retro dragon version of bahamut from an older game fit, when all the rest of the mounts have been cats/lynx. Unless its a feline.. it does not fit. The extra trials have been FF4 but the rest of the game has not. This is the Final EX mount of the Zodiark saga that we've been building up to and its a spin-off comic reference mount? The spin-off filler mounts should not take away from the rest of the entire game. Talk about ending on a low note.
