Reading through this made me laugh so much. Console wars really are just to perpetuate more sales for a players favorite console.

I don't really see any hate for Xbox getting this game finally. If anything, we on playstation knew this was a possibility and don't care.

I honestly find there's a ton of hate towards the playstation from PC players. It's like you all think you solely entitled to this game. I get you want prettier graphics but you got methods now in which to achieve that.

So now that Xbox is going to involved the hate will spread to both consoles and its sad.i know my post going to get hate or trolled but check yourselves. This world don't revolve around pc ya know.

FFXI took an age to come out in Europe, and there was extreme racism from both Japanese and US players against Europeans that imported their copy of the game. Seriously, intense hate to the point where some people would ask where you come from before partying.

Then when it went to the Xbox 360 too, the hate was amplified. Suddenly, everything was the fault of Xbox 360 players.

The same will happen this time.

- you're better than them (that rarely happens to me).
- you have something they don't have and want.
- you easily get something they had to "work" to get.

I can't deny the community is very welcoming, but I always felt to me it was because they like being the "welcoming mmo community", not because they truly are welcoming (or it's actual newbie) . It often felt to me like a mask, that a lot of them actually do that for their own ego. The whole "I'm not able to wait 15 seconds for first timer to watch the alliance raid last boss cutscenes" is one of the things that make this feeling stronger). It's still better than a lot of games, though. As someone who played lotro for years, I totally agree that it feels far more guenine there. The problem with lotro is that most of old content is dead, and that the direction SSG push the game to is terrible.

I've played 11 since it was released here, in europe and never experienced that other than *some* JP players really didn't want to play with english speaking players.

Yeah it was mostly some JP players not wanting to play with English. I dont know where the idea came from of NA and JP hating EU during the ff11 days. I think the NA and EU players got along pretty well in ff11.

Half the community tries to gatekeep, the other tries to shut down any dialogue about the gatekeeping in order to keep up the facade of "friendliest MMORPG community". Now don't get me wrong, a lot of the community I've encountered since ARR has been brilliant, welcoming, friendly, helpful, kind. Like, genuinely. But just as much hasn't, and it's been this way since the start. Just like any other MMORPG's community. The problem I've found especially since mid-late ShB is the heavy enforcement of this facade. YOU MUST BE HAPPY, YOU MUST BE KIND, YOU MUST BE CONTENT, YOU MUST BE FRIENDLY.

Now the mask dropped pretty quick when so many members of this so called FRIENDLY, community were flipping tables when streamers like Asmongold started playing, bringing a sizeable influex of newblood from his community into the game. Things said along the lines of... he's not welcome, his community is not welcome. They're toxic, they'll make the game worse, they'll ruin the community.

Now, the mask slips again because of Xbox. :') They're not even playing yet and plenty of folks are losing their minds.
Personally I'm all for the community getting called out on this and the reputation getting shattered, it might do something about the heavily enforced toxic positivity that plagues this game and it's community.

SE just needs to tread carefully with how they approach Xbox. If the game ends up on GamePass while everyone else has to pay for it - that's an issue.

I hope SE didn't have to make too many concessions to Microsoft to make this happen. Also, I seriously believe folks are underestimating the influx of players the Xbox base will bring. Xbox folks love to complain about not having certain games, get them, then don't play them.

I think this was brought up in the past.

1. Console exclusives are a sensitive matter, especially when it involves PlayStation games getting ported to Xbox/Nintendo consoles because the inverse never happens. Naturally, drama ensues.

2. If you made a venn diagram of Xbox fans and FF fans, there would be about 10 people in the middle. FFXIII + XV were basically a non factor on the Xbox, and the former was a technologically inferior port that had to be put on 2 discs. The gap is probably even wider for this game since people are already playing it on PC. It's possible FFXI fared better on the 360 than on the PS2, but both of those were shut down ages ago.

I'm often reminded of that one FFXIII goof video made by that guy from SA.

But a minority of the community also made the game not enjoyable for him. I haven't followed him in a good while but from understanding he didn't return to the game?

I have yet to see anyone "lose their mind" that the game is getting available on another platform. It's just childish imo.
And I also don't think it's completely fair to label whole community from a small offset or vocal minority with this so called gatekeeping or losing their minds.

For example, everyone on this forum or reddit doesn't represent the community as a whole. We are a minority. And lets be real, the forum at least is 90% trolls with zero moderation.

Nope he didn't return, and yea his minority of fans were a bit annoying, but catching his streams, you would always see him put them in their place cause despite Asmon being well..Asmon, he does really LOVE MMOs and wants nothing more than for them to succeed, and he did love the game, but he cited that whenever he played, lots of people in-game that he blatantly didn't know would actively follow him, spoil the story, try to join his dungeon runs and ruin his experience, eventually pushing him off the game.

It's like I always say, this game has the most passive aggressive community I have ever seen in a game, you just have to notice it at the right time, cause most of the time, it will be covered up under the guise of "We are the friendliest"
