Do this and a good chunk of players will just transfer off of Dynamis, myself included.I will go as so far as to say it *might* not be a bad idea to temporarily remove xcenter travel. On the Dynamis data center, it really is THAT bad. It's devastating and game breaking. Getting 10+ minute waits as healer or tank doesn't matter for things like expert roulette. Alliance raids are most often 30+ minutes if they even open at all. Crystaline Conflict doesn't happen.
New players and alts should not have to make party finder groups begging someone to join either synced or unsynced for MSQ leveling dungeons.
Its bad. Really bad.
Removing the feature is probably not feasible. They should have cross data center party finders before enabling the cross center travel. If thats not possible, need to give significant bonuses for doing content on your own data center, and possibly even a negative effect for doing them on data centers that are not your own. Yes, it really is that bad.
A lot only came to dynamis because dc travel exists.
Wait, this is a thing?
Maybe it's the times of day that I'm on and stuff, but I tend to be able to find stuff in PF pretty frequently on Primal. I haven't looked much since 6.4 other than for Ex6, but I hadn't noticed a lot of issues... Is this a new thing, or a time of day thing, or an overblown/hyperbole thing?
A few minutes ago I checked PF and saw that there were eight total listings on the High-end Duty tab. Out of curiosity I hopped over to Aether to see how many listings they had.
There were over 150.
Before DC travel Primal had a very healthy raiding community. During primetime there were tons of groups for savage raids, trials, ultimates, etc. It's around 8PM PST right now and PF is almost completely dead on this DC.
SE really needs to do something about this.
Like many say, without cross DC travel, Dynamis will die. It seems destined that Dynamis will remain dead anyhow, as the population shows very little, to no increase over the past few months, and anyone who denies this is smoking the really strong copium. Any bump from 7.0 will be temporary, and I am doubtful that it will be the salvation a lot of players are hoping for.
My first solution is for Dynamis to be sundered. Divide its worlds and distribute them to the other DC's. Add 2 more worlds so that is even between the 3 DC's, and this will help servers cope with 7.0 population booms. Dynamis was created in large part to open housing up for people who wanted it, and a lot of wards remain totally vacant. It seems a perfect solution to just merge Dynamis into the rest of the DC's.
The second solution is to block people from creating DF's on DC's they're not from. This serves two purposes. One, annoying venue ad spam for DC's they're not from cease (Mostly.) Secondly forces people to go and form their raids on their own DC. A potential problem may be that people from other DC's will still be able to join party finder groups on other DC's.
An optional third solution is to prevent people from doing Savage on anything but their own home DC. I have a feeling that will be deeply unpopular, and just make people transfer to the worlds with all of the raiding.
The current state of PF on Primal has been frustrating to me, I'm a little glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way. In the past there was never an issue with filling or finding a group, but as of late there are so few parties. I still try to use Primal PF as much as possible, but it is in a real sad state and it's disappointing to see. I like to be able to talk to my FC, use my retainers, etc and not feel trapped on a different data center just to fill a group.
Ideally it would be nice to see region wide PF (and duty finder), that way everyone has the same access without extra steps.

If anything I think DC travel is what's keeping it from growing. Why play on your own DC when you can just piss off to a highly populated one? If enough people do that then people aren't interacting and making friends on the server, the server in turn doesn't develop any sort of community, people therefore have no reason to stick around so even more hop to other DCs to play, and so on. It's a vicious cycle.
