I mean.. Yes it has to be constant, if you actually want a break for a few month it quite literally has to be constant, also if people "need" a house, it's because when they come back to the game, they dont want to spend the next 4 years trying to get a large or medium (and that is by bidding every single bidding period, if they are eventually graced by the rng gods) but I figured you wouldnt understand that

The system is an absolute cancer, forcing people to keep their subs on in the eventual case of them coming back to the game, and god forbid they dont, they can enjoy bidding agaisnt hundreds of people for every medium or large, woooo so exciting to come back to that !

Again, why is it so important to have a house in a game if you're only going to be playing it 4 weeks out of 52 each year?

Demolition is necessary to keep houses available to those who are actively playing the game. Otherwise all the houses in the game would have long since been purchased and new players would be out of luck.

If the game had a proper instanced housing system, then demolition wouldn't be necessary. Because SE sticks to the ward system, it is.

Players can either choose to be smart consumers and stop paying a subscription for a game they aren't playing for the sake of something they aren't using, or they can be dumb consumers and waste their money just for the sake of saying "I have this item that's stays shoved in a closet most of the year, aren't I special?"

That is not what I said but okay, some people can take extended breaks because they've been playing since release or whatever, but you're going on the extreme side, okay I guess ?

Demolition is necessary because they want to keep people subscribed, stop pretending that SE is a small indie company, if they wanted to fix housing add multiple new wards in a few days, they would add them, or even make self-create wards, they would add them, they dont WANT to do it because it brings them money, stop being so oblivious.

If the game had a proper instanced housing system, then demolition wouldn't be necessary. Because SE sticks to the ward system, it is.
You're probably getting one on the island which is fine to me, however an instanced system on the "normal" areas a la mist etc, no thank you still at least from me

Orrrrrrrrrrrr hear me out ! They could fix the housing system and add more wards, they are not a small indie company, as I mentioned above, this is all about the money, its racking in cash because people dont want to waste multiple years after coming back to the game to try and get a large, I dont know why this is such a crazy idea to you to not want to keep bidding for years on end with absolutely 0 chance to even win, so yes, people HAVE to keep their subscription up if they dont want to do that when they come back, and SE wants it that way.

If you truly think someone liking housing even in the slightest and coming back to the game and having to bid on for multiple years is "exciting" or "a good idea", I dont know what to tell you

    Literally contradicting yourself here.
Nobodys saying they only want to play 4/52 weeks of the year. But some people would definitely appreciate taking a 3 month break without losing their house, coming back refreshed, and then devoting time to the game again. Without having to drop 40 USD just to keep the house going

FCs that control most of the housing are laughing at the playerbase and their powerlessness.

    Where the contradiction?

Someone taking a 3 month break would only have to pay $15 for a single month's subscription to keep their house, not $40. Enter house to reset demo timer on the day before game time runs out and the break begins. After 4-6 weeks, resub under monthly payments then cancel sub once the first month is charged. Enter the house to reset demo timer on the first and last days of the subscription period. Take another month off without paying the subscription, then resubscribe as the break ends.

It's the player's decision as the paying consumer whether or not the house is worth the subscription fee while they take their break (other than the 1 minute they have to log in every month or so to reset the demo timer).

If they don't think it's worth it, then they should give up the house. While getting the same house back on their return would be unlikely, getting another house would only require a little patience unless they only play on a super congested world like Balmung or Mateus. They can still get an apartment for each of their characters that they wouldn't lose so they wouldn't be completely without housing. With Island Sanctuary now allowing outdoor furnishings, the most they have to give up is gardening and most players don't bother with that.

You could say that players shouldn't have to make such decisions. I actually agree. It's why I still push for SE to add an improved instanced housing system to the game. With instanced housing, there is no need for demolition. Every player can get their dream location without impacting the ability of another player to do the same. Players can take a 2 year break from the game and return to find their housing just as they left it.

But until that happens (if it ever does, though what they're doing with Island Sanctuary shows they're capable of giving us a decent instanced housing system) we have to work with the system that SE provided. As long as the ward system is the only way to get a house, players will have to maintain a staggered subscription at the minimum to keep a house.

To be fair, who want small plots even for FC anyways? The BiS for decorating now is a Medium plots and not Goblet, but they didn't provide enough Medium plots sadly...

Or, square could change the toxic business practice and extend the demolition timer, or remove it and do something about accounts with multiple houses locked down causing the issue in the first place.
Then just allow alts on the account to teleport to your house and alter it as much as wanted

Why not? A house is a house, and it isnt what you are given or are able to obtain, its what you do with it. Kallor Cottage is a small FC house in the Goblet, its warm, cozy, has a workshop and a "home" feel to it.

A bit like a but'n'ben, but more homelike.

    ( If you know what a but'n'ben is... )
