Status remedies are very useful. The recast duration, especially the shared recast, are a bit annoying. However, consider that the alternatives could come down to a) your WHM saying "silenced" in /p, standing around doing nothing for 30 seconds except possibly remember he has Benediction, and you quite likely watching your tank wiped out or b) the WHM popping Throat Drops and resuming curing immediately.

Of course, Throat Drops and Spine Drops are also available from the GC, so that might not help ALCs much

This. Slugs happen to Silence your only WHM at Miser's Mistress? Throat Drops. Want a huge stat. boost to your main combos? STR/INT pots. Tank can't seem to keep hate over DPS? Maddening Potion. Tank can't dodge a NM's WS and takes a huge chunk of damage? Elixir.

The potions all have uses, some more than others. The consensus seems to be that, rather than rarity of mats. being an issue, it's moreso that the shared timer makes it hard to see the full benefit of using potions.
