Everything and I mean EVERYTHING that you have mentioned makes you sound like an old man with almost no knowledge on computers.Be cheap, relaxing to play, easier to setup in any location, easier to transport, and not bogged down by things outside of games.
PCs are great multi-tools, but for gaming they all suffer the same fate. The user eventually bogs them down with things that aren't games, whether it's malware, adware, torrents, gigs of porno, excessive amounts of programs that load on boot, or any other thing. Not too mention, the propensity for parts within a PC to break or fail at different rates since not all PCs are streamlined and the same.
Also, if your gaming computer doubles as your work computer, then it'll be bogged down by work related programs, and it'll also be more likely to be in an office setting with an office chair. I don't know about you, but when I really want to relax I don't like to sit at a computer desk. I prefer to be able to lay down on the couch or sit in an easy chair with my feet propped up.
Laptops can solve the portability issue, but using them away from a table or desk is terrible for your wrists, and they also can't improve the experience over a console or desktop, generally.
Basically, if you can afford mid range PC, you could probably shell out for the console. You just don't want too. The reality of the situation is that PC enthusiasts are just stuck in their ways and their PC better mantras which are all pretty much just copes cause they miss out on or get worse versions of exclusives.
One big point is the PC players usually don't have to pay to pay online like PS Plus or Xbox live services so in reality PC players save money to do the same thing console players can do without paying Sony or Microsoft to be able to play multiplayer games. Another thing that PC players can do that console players can't is usually players can make unofficial patches to fix games i.e. Skyrim etc. Yeah consoles do have pros then PC's but wait next year or 2 for a PS5 slim or some other BS model they make while my PC will still run on the same components I have with no upgrades
FF14 online store says hello XD. SE is just as guilty for stuff like outfits and mounts so can't say Naoki and party are innocent if you are going by that logicNot sure why anyone is surprised by it. This is investing into the future. FF14 isn't going to be here forever, and the game is still at the top of the MMO market. Course a lot of you that post here somehow think Summoner is bad, when it's being played now more than it ever was.
D4 a challenge? It's a macrotransactionfest and is extremely unbalanced with a select few builds (with the right RNG dropped loot) destroying the hardest difficulty already without any effort. Class Builds don't matter when the top class/build is that much better than everything else. Such as Whirlwind Barbarian being better than every Druid Build combined by miles.
The only "Challenge" is Streamers doing Hardecore then purposely making silly mistakes to farm content or purposely playing the worst builds as those are more funny to look at then just destroying everything with the best build.
Lore is good? It barely acknowledges the events of D3, the game that came before it. We still don't have a conclusion to Leah's story which was promised during D3 but was promptly cut as they instead chose to chase the Esport scene and Seasons.
D4 is so full of macrotransactions at launch and will only escalate as players already beat the entire game in less than a week. Why, Players can already max their Battlepass in less than a minute if they have a credit card and has a FOMO infested Item Shop that resets weekly thus encouraging players to get all the premium currency that they can so that they don't "miss out", a strategy that WoW has used and still uses.
https://www.ggrecon.com/guides/diablo-4-monetisation/ - Already has all this. All of this Macrotransactions. Disgusting.
Watched the whole FF16 on youtube, and I really loved the story, sans a couple of reservations of questionable points. It's also funny that Clive is basically a FFXIV Summoner but with a sword instead of a book. I kinda wonder if his character concept influenced on the Endwalker's iteration of SMN, or it was the other way around.
I'm a PC player, who uses his computer for work as well, and I'm not buying a PS5 just because of a game but also because I don't really like single player games nowadays.
For me it was a matter of "why not both?" I have an uber gaming PC that I also use as my home workstation. Cost me a pretty penny but I live here 8-10 hours of the day and it means I don't have to go to the office to do my work.
And I also finally caved and bought a PS5 for FFXVI specifically.
I'll probably own that PS5 for a decade (heck I still own my PS3 fat and my PS4) but I'll have to upgrade my PC long before the PS6 comes out.
it just occurred to me, but man i hope the devs don't waste either of the next expac's raid series on another crappy crossover
I mean if you're just going to say "I'm disingenuous in my comparisons" so loud that it deafens us I don't know why you're even posting.3x times more cost effective? Maybe few years ago, when Nvidia was on peak of their bullshitery. Nowadays you can make PS5 equivalent easily under 1K, not even twice the price you suggest. Sure it's still more cost effective, if you only consider short term benefits. No Steam discounts, paying for some dumb online subscription, and having no means to gradually upgrade your console will accumulate and you'll pay same price as for PC in few years, all of that while consoles don't offer any versatility like PC does. If you work in technical field or even just a student, you'll need a PC, so you might as well get a beefy PC than to have bad one + console.
And yes, people will be surprised if 1060 and similar is not enough to handle "next-gen" titles, because those next-gen titles barely look different that those 5+ years old. Differences between Witcher 3(2015), FF15(2016), DMC5(2019) and FF16 are minimal, so why would we need 2x stronger machines?
(it's supposed to be 2015 on the left)
