That's a fair take- I'd say there are much better ways to frame/discuss what they need to discuss. Something like "I think housing scarcity is manufactured to generate revenue. Can anyone explain why they don't just have infinite housing?".
The way they frame their point just skirting this enough to be an opinion that isn't really interested in discussing it so much as causing others to argue over it- which to Titan's credit, he generally does post his argument-spawning threads in a way that feels innocent enough, as opposed to a lot of the other trolls.
Some trolls just wanna argue because it gets them internet points. Or makes them feel good. Or maybe it's some kind of cult.
Yeah but I still cant see how thats a permanent solution to accommodate everyone like that. Which is the point of the housing debate.Adding more wards or "adaptable" ward is a solution though, basically self-create wards up to a certain point that would be limited by SE depending on world and population. For Balmung for example and I am saying this as an example, it would go up to 38, while on Japan since they are a lot less populated it would go to 32. As I said it's just an example but you get the point, I think that's an idea
There probably are - However, the wording of both the thread itself and the title of the thread will largely determine just how controversial, or well-discussed a topic is. This is why you have threads such as the lackluster story thread getting to the size that it did. It's all about getting the thread notoriety. Very few threads that just merely vent about the state of housing, e.g., the lottery simply won't gain traction. However, something such as this will, especially when there are some potentially controversial takes e.g., it being manufactured. - I don't think it is entirely manufactured - But equally, there are absolutely some manufactured parts behind it.That's a fair take- I'd say there are much better ways to frame/discuss what they need to discuss. If their intent, for example, were to ensure people who have quit the game will no longer have a house, and it just stays idly by, then there is little merit in the demolition period being so frequent/regular. It is ultimately multi-purpose and manufactured. e.g., Twitch has a Username Renaming and Recycling Policy, and equally Runescape has a Character Name clean-up. Sure, usernames are a different beast entirely. But the premise is the same - In that they ensure that dormant accounts don't clog up a limited resource. - and I would think that the period that FFXIV does it with housing is too frequent
You WISH SE put this much thought into housing. You give them too much credit.
I think that a huge part of that is how they designed wards. Most of us have our favourite housing plots.
My criteria was that i wanted a large House becouse i liked apartment gardening and more gardening plots sounded fun and i wanted mb to be as close as possible becouse i used my apartment building's mb a lot so figured i could do the same with a house.
While we all have a little different preferencies what comes to housing plots they still do overlap which causes some plots to be more wanted than others and that is where ward design comes in. If we would have instanced housing everyone could get all of their housing criteria easily met but it's not so easy with ward design.
That's how we can have a situation where there are people who say that they can't get a house (usually meaning house that they wan't) and available plots at the same time. I think that instanced housing is the only fix. No matter how se would design new wards there is always someone who won't get the plot they wan't.
Just some things they could do to make it more user friendly:
- Increase the demolition timer to at least 90 days so it's more in line with the patch cycle.
- Remove the timer to reclaim furniture after the demolition. Especially for event items or paid Mogshop furniture...
- Add housing to Island Sanctuary.
- Add gardening to the outdoor furnishing on Island Sanctuary.
But they don't want to make the system friendlier, so they won't.

what? the 6billion dollar corporation would lie to us for good PR then do the opposite of what they said for profit?

EU hasn't lost a house to auto-demo since Dec 2021 because auto-demo was only turned on for a month between then and now. We'll have more houses after July 6th.
