Wow, good thing you're self-esteem is up there! If you're on Balmung you're missing out on some awesome /sh folks like Bra, Kirsten, Octavius and the like. Your loss!I have the same issue on my server, but I'm not as kind as you. I blacklist like there is no tomorrow. I've been in parties and in linkshells where people were on my blacklist. ^^; I've just reasoned that stupid people are a common bread and I don't deserve to read their stupidity.
I think /sh spam is annoying... Now if people are looking for members is one thing but blatant spam is annoying.
As someone else pointed out, asking for something in /sh, either a party shout, repairs or whatever every 10-15 seconds is annoying as hell. Makes me want to shout back "Yes I have a 7/8 party, but you're not getting an invite cause you're an annoying bastard!" but I never do, cause it's just as rude
The full conversations in /sh used to bother me immediately after servers were merged, since I definitely wasn't used to that on Palamecia, but they toned down too. Occasionally someone will post something like "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" in 2 lines of text length out of the blue, but I usually just roll my eyes.
I seem to ALWAYS forget past quests, chores, locations and mob names, but I never forget names of people whose shouts rub me the wrong way in /sh >_>

If you need a place to chat about all sorts of ridiculous, dorky and nonsensical topics, feel free to join the Absolutely Fabulous LS
Send a /tell and bring your happy pills~!
I always /shout back USE THE DANG PARTY SEARCH FEATURE!
Funniest part of shout chat to me is the people who shout that we shouldn't be using the /sh and if needed use it sparringly, this is amusing to me. After merger we found out that people from the server we merged with were all bent out of shape over it, I guess we didnt mind as much on our old server.
Now every time I log in I make it a point to shout random nonsense.
To Belive in the Heroic is what makes men Heroes.
What I feel is even weirder is that there are certain linkshells and people in them that don't like talking in LS chat. I have been part of 5 different LSes now and I've ran into people who answered me in tells and told me having a conversation in LS chat is rude.I like talking to strangers in shout very much and therefore won't stop doing it, thank you.
It's what makes a game social, random interaction, one of the things most people coming from other games complain about with FFXIV is that they stand in a city with 400 players around them and no one says a single word.
It's like a ghost town.
dafuq?
Shout whatever's on your mind, in my opinion.
Dookie y u leave us? T__TFilter out chat /sh if it's a big deal. This game lacks the social aspect of most MMO and that helps keep the community intertwined. If you can't see or appreciate that I feel bad for you. Besaid had a great culture because of the /sh thing and it never hurt anyone looking for groups. Also, try redoing your windows with two separate ones if you are missing things.
/sh Kitensa!
Aww, I miss the server a bunch ><. Our shell made the move to get away from a few people who brought bad mojo. Aegis is great, though! Already met some really awesome people (Mad and Sprankles shoutout!)
Hope everyone is well on Besaid!
And see, OP? Join in the fun and look at the kind of relationships you can build!
