Glad to see the usual suspects piling on OP when he’s the only person making a deliberate effort to foster discussion.
Alas, video games used to be about more than just cutscenes and button mashing. It’s sad to see NES games that have more nuance and complexity than something released in 2023, but I guess you’re all here for it, right? It doesn’t matter how much they rip apart our hobby as long as Yoshi-P is on one side and GaiusDrakon is on the other.
What’s most likely is that people will leave behind the Final Fantasy franchise and seek out games with actual gameplay and depth. Many young people play games like Honkai Star Rail, a turn-based RPG. Final Fantasy is a relic not because it’s an RPG, but because CBU3 doesn’t know how to make them. And you all like that…only because GaiusDrakon is the one posting about it. Right?
Hopefully when Yoshi-P resigns from the company, we can get an actual Final Fantasy MMO and single-player counterpart that doesn’t follow the hallway brainrot formula.
