I think "Zodiark Trance" is supposed to be like SMN's Dreadwyrm Trance? idk that never clicked for me I just thought it was a weird name.
I found this post insightful:
Actually the term originates from a fan fiction comic which a fairly good artist made, detailing his OC version of Azem confronting Hydaelyn and using a, "Zodiark Trance" to channel dark power and fight her by himself. Rather than being fans of Zodiark, the, "trancers" are mostly fans of the Ascians/Ancients. This translates to being fans of Zodiark, but not a lot of them are really stuck on liking Zodiark, since Zodiark doesn't get a lot of characterization.
They aren't upset that their fanfiction didn't come true. It's more, they're upset that the protagonist centered morality inherent in XIV's narrative let Hydaelyn/Venat off too easy, breaking a lot of characterization for most of the Scions as well as making the WoL complicit with her deeds via informing her about her future, thus planting the idea to do what she did.
I don't remember who started referring to them as trancers in the first place, but it was only after that comic came out and got bashed that I started seeing it.
They argued their piece for a couple of years, but most of them quit back in like February. Now they mostly talk about Elder Scrolls Online or other games outside of the FFXIV spaces in their discords, though they do check in here from time to time.
It's kind of funny, because they're seen as a big, homogenous group that's all shadowy and sinister and out to get people for liking Endwalker. But about all they really do is still argue about it on Twitter once or twice a week, and keep to themselves.
I guess I'm technically one of them, but I'm unable to embrace the rivalries and drama at every turn. There's a lot of stuff I don't even know about fully, going on, on places like Reddit and 4chan. Sometimes it feels like they just respond to tweets or show they don't like Endwalker to remind people that they're still around and it's OK to not like it. Mainly to spite the people willing to doxx them/ DM them death threats etc.
I assumed it was in a trance a La hypnosis
Going to take a guess that they are so all in on wanting zodiark to be the good guy that they are brainwashed/hypnotized, therefore in a trance
Edit: nvm read the post actually explaining
Yeah, this is pretty much it tbh. Someone made a comic where the WoL "Zodiark Trances" and people started memeing on it as the dialogue was admittedly a little cringy. (I'm fairly sure the author's main language wasn't English either) It basically means a person that likes the Ancients/Ascians more than the heroes and/or dislikes the 6.0 story.
I'd go get the picture but the subreddit is still down over the blackout nonsense. It still shows up in Google images though.
You're really hung up on this.
Leaving someone to die because you can't help them and murdering innocent people because they can't solve a problem they don't even know exists aren't the same thing. Not sure where the Venat discussion is coming from though.During a mass casualty training exercise, we were trained in triage. What does that mean? Knowing that you cant save some no matter what you do and you MUST leave them. You have no idea how I felt when the examiner said "She has internal injuries, we dont have time, leave her and move on"
