It's optional, you don't have to buy it if you don't want to.

It leaves a bad taste in people's mouths and people worry about things escalating.

For one, it's likely that the mount itself used a lot of assets from the actual boss model. They're essentially putting something people have already paid for that's had some slight changes up for sale.

And secondly if you look at the mog store, up until maybe the last couple of years nothing on it has been really involved in the games lore. It's been cosmetics, stuff from other games, old event items. I don't really think it was until they started selling character outfits that they started using in-game content in the store. People are obviously wary of that because they feel it will eventually move from the outfits, to the mounts to just about anything.

And sure, you don't have to have it, but isn't everything in the game optional? That's not really a sound argument.

How does that affect their microtransaction department putting desired items in the Mogstation and those sales going towards their other projects instead of XIV in any way?

Just putting it out there that this has been going on since the Mogstation first opened with the Sleipnir mount in terms of taking from lore/in game assets. It was literally one of the first things up and has been $24 the entire time. The only thing that's changed over the years is the prices rising imo.

That's true, sadly, but even more reason for me to hold on to them for food instead of an optional store mount thing for a game.

this mount should be obtainable somehow in game and it def made sense to be a potential reward with BLU being bumped up to 80 and promise being the final shb raid.

I dont understand why we are defending this being in the store. It should be obtainable somehow ingame.

To be fair, the WoW Exodus came out of nowhere. I don't think anyone expected Blizzard to screw themselves into the hole they did/still are in and the subsequent leaving in droves to 14. From the quick look I did, the shortage started in 2020 and the lawsuit first emerged in July (?) of 2021 (with Endwalker launching in December). Therefore, it probably would have been a challenge regardless to accommodate the flood of new players in those conditions.

As far as basic game features though, I can't disagree with you but I'm also in the camp of people believing that the cash shop money doesn't go back into the game...or at least not all of it.
