Same. I know two people in my direct friend's list that were on the fence about pre-ordering that pulled the trigger yesterday.
And another person that watched a streamer playing the demo and sighed and ordered a PS5.

got to make up for losses when Final Fantasy XVI and VII Rebirth don't meet sales expectations![]()
Correct hammer, wrong nails. SE makes some big games without the words final and fantasy in their title and those uhhhh, didn't do so well haha.

I dont see how an OPTIONAL mount has any bearing on a games quality. FF 14 is quality gaming in every sense. It's about the standard they set for future endeavors like this. Just like how cd projekt red set the standard for triple a games releasing in broken unplayable states with cyberpunk 2077.

"...for future endeavors LIKE THIS". Not talking about any other aspect of the game besides the online store. Pointing out the 9 unrelated good things doesn't make the 1 bad thing disappear.
If you want more mounts that should have been in game in the first place to be sold on the online store, then yeah I guess there is no problem.

Okay - I mean, whilst I guess I can see both sides of the argument here, I do think some are overreacting.
Seriously - to read some of these replies you'd think that SE were threatening to cancel players subscriptions for not buying these optional items.
i see your point , but people gets fed up when something starts to become a pattern (especially when involves money), SE has a very predatory business style for a Sub type Game ,granted we get several items , not for free, we are paying for it remember, whoever thinks those cute seasonal outfits are "Free" they need some basic ...everything...
and the fact they keep pushing items to their store that should be something is the reward system , well...they get to upset their customers more and more.
this sort of mounts could be added to their veteran system , which has been left abandoned since...forever

The only predatory bit I see is the retainer system. And even that is only really bad for folks who craft I'd say. Not a fan of that. As for the mogstation (of the ffxiv story rather) I don't see anything predatory there personally. So what they sell outfits/mounts people want in there. I can't call that predatory, it's just smart business. It'd be different if SE was touting that these things would be in the game and THEN they pivot to the store. But thats never the case (admittedly as far as I know). People build up their own expectations and then blame SE when it doesn't pan out the way they made themselves think it should have.i see your point , but people gets fed up when something starts to become a pattern (especially when involves money), SE has a very predatory business style for a Sub type Game ,granted we get several items , not for free, we are paying for it remember, whoever thinks those cute seasonal outfits are "Free" they need some basic ...everything...

Could the Vet system use an update 100%. But it'd literally just be instant items for many of us that have been around for years so the system would become dead water once again.
One part I don't get is you saying seasonal items aren't free. How aren't they exactly? They don't cost money. And you sub pay for you to have access to the servers. The rest is just there for you to choose to obtain or not. But let's just say we ARE paying for everything we get in ffxiv with our subs, what difference does it make it were paying for it in game than if we buy off MS? By your logic we're still buying it one way or another. That's were that logic takes a dip south.

I do agree that they're technically not free – the "price" being that you need to be subscribed to the game at the time of the event. If you're subscribed anyway, then yeah they're a freebie on top of it, but if not then you have to either pay to access the event and gear or you wait a year to pay a smaller amount for just the gear.

Wait...huh? I don't think it works how you're explaining it. If you aren't subbed why would you pay for the item? The fact is it is free and become a payed thing after the event is over. But if you only aub for seasonal events you're on a different wave than most lolI do agree that they're technically not free – the "price" being that you need to be subscribed to the game at the time of the event.
