    Like I just said in the post, adding the weapon glows is already a decent incentive to allow people to go into rank and work for. Having that is already a huge improvement compared to portrait frames that we've gotten for three major patches in a row. Can the reward system be better? Yes, having a way to where everyone of all ranks can work towards getting the glows would be better since it'll keep even the lower tier crowd invested if they get stuck in the lower ranks. I would say that the reward alone has kept Primal ranked queues alive longer than they have been for the last couple of seasons, again can still be better but it's a step in the right direction.

    The Reward IS the life support and on its own its no different from casual CC, im not saying to do away with the mode im saying get rid of ranked because CLEARLY its not liked by anybody save for the incredibly small minority and requires incentive for anybody to care.
    and when i say history repeating itself i mean; Ranked players are going to constantly complain about there not being enough rewards untill they get glowing/dyable feast armors and its going to annoy the majority causing everybody to ONLY go in for the glam and not ranked itself, that stresses the player base out and nobody wants that. SO rather then recreating that shitstorm, why not focus on expanding the crystal shop and series pass? (and if i recall correctly even when they had the feast armor barely anybody went into ranked.)

    I think Ranked would do better if the loss penalty didn't exist, and it would just be a number of wins game to reach top 100.

    Could have more players participate into Ranked without the loss penalty.

    So how is that supposed to work?

    If you say its based purely on wins, where does the skill tiers fall into here? Accirding to this logic, someone who just happens to play enough games and win enough times in Bronze and Silver would be eligible for Top 100 if noone in higher tiers played more than them. How would that be a Top player?

    If we abolish skill tiers to make it work, it will be basically no different matchmaking wise than casual, which is a complete mess of games quality, it will be steamrolls or wars of attrition.

    If we then were to add hidden MMR to make skill tier matchmaking work, it would feel like people don't know what skillgroup they even belong to because there is no visual indicator what they are and what they are up against.

    If you lose enough times it may not necessarily your RNG being bad or your teammates throwing, this may indicate the individual who keeps losing isnt ready for climbing. Not a nice pill to swallow, but better than blaming a system for one's shortcomings.

    See the thing in CC ranked is... your individual performance may not actually reflect on your average win rate. Say you're usually on top of kill/assist/damage/crystal time(!) but you still lose due to the rest of the party are getting killed running aimlessly into the enemy team or just sleep/afk, why should the entire team getting hit with rank decay. Normal chat won't fix that issue either sadly.

    Although that being said, it'll be hard to tell if you pulled your weight but your team somehow lost either way - maybe something like MVP system that will rank you up regardless if your group has lost the match (depending on if you performed well in one of the crucial departments like crystal time/kill/assists/damage etc. I'm sure that'd take some frustration out of ranked mode - if you put in effort, you should be recognized and receive your rank that matches your skill level and in turn be matched with equal pvp-skill faster.

    The new weapons are only keeping ranked players, playing ranked. People who had stopped ranking in previous seasons because there was no incentive.

    New players aren't going to pick up casual CC for augmented hellhound, the grind is not worth the effort, and there is no clout in the ownership of weapons which are essentially recolors/variants with particle effects. The feast gear doesn't offer a recolor, and there is clout in wearing those sets.

    What will get more people playing ranked? Rewards for playing from top to bottom, exclusive to ranked. Impress people with the rewards for being at the top, on par with ultimate weapons for the effort required to get them.

    I do think I am understanding your point with removing ranked, sorry if I phrased it like I was misinterpreting it. And while I do think that ranked should get some kind of extra incentive to attract people to playing it, it should expand that reward to every rank to allow them to progress to getting that reward in some way. Saw a comment in another forum post saying it should just have the Overwatch gold weapon skin system to allow anyone of any rank to progress to getting a glowy weapon and just make that process faster for higher rank people. It's the most middle ground approach to the situation and I think it would be fine. I also think that Crystal Shop should get expanded rewards along with better series pass rewards cuz man most of these rewards for general PvP have been mid lately. However, I don't think the designing for the glows had taken a lot of time to actually make and didn't impeded the creation of new armor and weapons (I don't know actual game development process, I just assume based off the quality of the glows themselves so I can totally just be wrong. I do genuinely think they should focus more on the casual side rather than ranked but I don't think dropping rank entirely would be wise unless they are somehow pressed for budget. But seeing as how this is the biggest title that is singlehandedly funding almost all of SE's projects I assume they would have enough.

    Huh? I mean difficulty is very subjective. Someone who clears Ultimates would probably say they are easy just like I would say getting to top 100 is easy. Also, I never mentioned anything about the difficulty of each of the content, I am speaking solely about the time investment required to "clear" each of these pieces of content and the playerbase they are designed for.

    In another lens, would it make sense for a casual PvE player who mostly does Island Sanctuary, chocobo racing, and has great difficulty completing daily roulettes to say "all ultimates should be deleted because the only difficulty is getting random people in party finder/discord and installing illegal cheating add-ons?"

    The only thing that is similar between the two is the guides that focuses on maximizing your DPS.

    Other than that they're 2 different things. PvP is getting the necessary restrictions in order for things to go fully solo (for some odd reason), while you're actually required to create a premade party if you want to do current ultimate/extreme/savage since completing them using duty finder is nonexistent.

    But this is very clearly and factually incorrect. Players on JPN servers do ultimates/extreme/savage and complete them using duty finder every single day. Solo, with random team mates, without any addons installed, and on PS4 controllers.

    In what way is ranked mode not the PvP equivalent to the most challenging PvE content? Let's even concede and say you are correct in making these claims; what then do you consider to be the most challenging PvP content that IS designed in the same vein as the the most challenging PvE content?

    I think the only things ranked should get are what they getting now+ furniture items, thats it. *yes i think ranked should get future weapon glows.*
    if they start getting armors its gonna be quite literally feast all over again, everybody is gonna be nagging about how ranked sucks and why do they get all these cool armors while they do not update the wolfmark shop at all. 16 freaking seasons of this by the way.
