The thread is about functionality, not appearance.there is 10000s of ways and combinations of gear looks alone with the glamour dresser and additional options to it...
I don't see how it can be boring, unless either lack creativity, the fantasy to do thing... and or just looking for different outfit combinations on the net.
They should first make Jobs less boring. Tanks and Healers are for most part dissapointing in comparison to DPS who also currently suffer from the boring buffstacking meta.
With set bonuses you would just go from wearing mix of tome/savage to either one, with piece spesific bonuses you would still use mix of tome/savage gear. Unless they completely overhauled the gearing system with more sources of endgame gear we would still be stuck with more of the same with a slight twist.
Kind of true and kind of not with it all depending on how its handled. Most games with set bonuses have piece thresholds (usually 2s/4s) so there is some wiggle room to make certain jobs standout over others. People have already seen that some jobs will just perform better regardless, so the dev team could honestly use that to its strength by using the data they obviously have and maybe shifting job strength per tier. This game doesn't have to be like others simply because you can play everything on a single character, so if certain jobs play better than others for a particular raid tier, chances are serious raiders are gonna have everything in their role leveled up any way. Those less serious usually wait to farm more gear to improve clear rates anyway. The point is just to make it more interesting than "well my best stats are crit and det so I'll stack that and call it a day." Granted some people like that and its not like secondaries will go away with set bonuses, but more options never hurt. They should first make Jobs less boring. We are sooner to get "Gloves of +15" rather than anything with cooler or more interesting stats.
They've been taking away everything from the era of oldschool MMOs and it's getting duller and duller. Soon substats won't even be a thing. :(

The problem is, the more non-boring gear you will have, the more balance issues you will get. And since balance > all, this is the result of it.
Cheers

I'm actually completely okay with unbalanced gameplay.

That has absolutely nothing to do with gear being boring.
It's boring because it has basically no influence on your gameplay, it's just a big "do more damage, take less damage, live longer" stat stick.
We tend to obsess over sub-stats in this game but outside of skill speed messing with your rotation they really don't matter at the end of the day.
You could have nothing but piety on your healer gear or nothing but tenacity on your tank gear and you would still be able to clear savage (and most likely ultimate) just fine.
But that's also the reason why we obsess over miniscule gains from certain sub-stats, because these stats are so boring that there is literally nothing else to think about besides getting that 1% more dps.

I'd rather have interest gear than the current balance that is just not fun.

If they would only consider set bonuses for Savage gear then I'm not sure how much interest it would add, because you're not going to have multiple types of bonuses to choose from.

i think you overthinking this really bad.Gear that has more complexity could lead to balance issues with the numerous different benefits of different gear.
Gear that has more complexity could also make it less casual to get the gear that players expect you to have for savage.
And the current system works and has worked for years. People chase BiS even though there is very little you actually need it for, mainly ultimates and it's nice to kill everything from dungeons to criterion dungeons faster.
So with these 3 points, I doubt they will actually change it.
if you look at it like doing savage means it can drop gear that could give passives buffs. for instance lets say a 3% increase to crit chance or something that could make interesting. doing the normal raids could just offer normal gear and it wont effect much
for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?
