Why do so many FF XIV players have anxiety??

Personally, it's because I'm a chronic people pleaser who hates inconveniencing others. Nothing feels worse than knowing I'm dragging the group down with my poor performance. Doesn't help that I come from MMOs where I was yelled at for every single miniscule mistake. I've been around FFXIV for a year and I still can't get used to people being relatively reasonable and forgiving.

Same here in a sense. I hate to think that anyone might think badly of me for performing badly. It's not as if I don't try, but I do often underperform and I hate the fact that my poor performance might impact on the team, or how long the instance of whatever we're in might last.

I guess it doesn't help that the MMO I played prior to FFXIV devolved into being so brainlessly easy that performance didn't matter - I mean, you could literally fall asleep and no-one would notice... and you'd still receive a reward when the instance countdown timer timed-out.

Exactly this! I always do my best as tank but there's always that inner demon that makes me doubt myself sometimes, even when my party members tell me otherwise

A couple of days will make 2 years for me. I feel ya. I still feel weird and overwhelmed in game at just how nice this community is after coming from other games.

Nope. It was a Free to Play game with a gamblebox obsession and powercreep that made it so that what was once 'Hard' level content could be completed in twelve seconds.
