    Not counting 1.x, since it's basically a different game, FFXIV has had 4 expansions since ARR released: HW, SB, ShB, EW, covering the period of 2015-2023 (and ongoing).

    The OP mentioned things lost over both ShB and EW, a span of 4 of those 8 years of expansion time (2019-2023).

    Therefore, the OP's issues and complaints cover 50% of the post-ARR expansion-era duration — and actually more in real-time, if you account for COVID bloat of ShB, and the fact that EW will probably run until 2024.

    So yes, actually, it is a large time-span to talk about — a very significant time span, in fact.

    I'm not sure its accurate to say a deep dungeon plus exploratory zone in one expac is lost since it only happened one expac. It isn't a break in a pattern cus there wasn't a pattern to break.

    Role quests (and Mean/Studium for crafters) replacing class quest storylines is something I don't like either. I like having class specific storylines that are used to flesh out the world. That said, the role quests, mean, and studium quests do add lore on their own and also flesh out the world, so its not a total loss. Just not as much as we might have had in a theoretical perfect setup. I'm all for asking for class quests back, though. Or at least for more class quests for new jobs that only have one set. Cus I recognize coming up with literally 31 unique storylines (and counting, as they add new jobs) each expac -- in addition to the zone quest lines, tribes, etc, plus experimental content-- and also expecting them to be engaging and interesting, might be a bit too much of an ask.

    Apologies, I read through the thread (including your posts I guess) and made a comment based on my thoughts of reading all of it. I wasn't meaning to solo your post out. Also, my post wasn't intended on being a 'gotcha' moment. Not every conversation needs to be a fight, i was just sharing my thoughts.

    I don't know why they've decided to not create a new Eureka/Bozja so far, maybe they will. That said, with the majority of their playerbase not bothering with it, even with relic weapons being locked behind it, combined with the amount of resources/time needed to make it, they might simply say "Yea, this isn't worth it." EX+ is already a drain in terms of content that most players will never bother with, but SE has shown willingness to make it regardless, which is a good thing imo. In my opinion, what makes something like Eureka unique is that they had put something really tempting behind Eureka to encourage players to do the content, and even then, most simply said 'nope'.

    Just my thoughts though, I'm not an expert, just a single poster with my own views. I personally can't stand Eureka, as I said, it's a chat room with an artificial grind. I see little difference between afking/chatting in Limsa and grinding/chatting in Eureka. Relics are the only reason I've gone there.

    Honestly why are people comparing island sanctuary to eureka? When it's meant to be the Mor dhona restairtaion The Ishgard retsoartaion The Doman enclave retsoartion. Replacement? I really don't get why people are comparing it to eureka. Theres no combat in island sanctuary. It's just a harvest moon version of the diadem that you expand as you rank up. A bad one at that.

    I will say that since the loss of job/class quests and gaining abilities from them I feel like I haven't really earned anything when levelling up a job. The new abilities are just kind of handed to you without any kind of fanfare or reason for us to have learned them. It would be alright if that were consistent, but we started out learning these skills from mentors and events and now it feels kind of like eh whatever you levelled up so here is some new stuff.

    Someone actually came up with a reason for that which involved the soul crystals. Everything you learn through your job quests is learned from the information stored in the soul crystal. When you finish your job quests you begin coming up with the techniques yourself, and instead you are now putting information into the soul crystals as you develop.

    It fits the lore, even if it doesn't change how you feel or even if it might just be a poor excuse.

    If you only want to compare one specific piece of content (aka Eureka) and complain about it being "lost" in exchange for something else (aka Island Sanctuary), without taking into account everything else the devs are doing (eg Duty Support; Criterion Dungeons; whatever else), by all means do so. It comes across as ignorant as to what the dev's direction in the game is, how much time/effort they want to spend on a particular kind of content, and what the target audience is doing in game.

    In other words, if there isn't a new Eureka or Bozja, consider that a lot of players might not have bothered doing them...whereas there IS a new deep dungeon...which probably means the casual audience is doing them.

    The devs decided to put in Manderville, of all things, before a new Bozja equivalent. That should tell you all you need to know about priorities.
