Very interesting and congrats to your success, I hope you get to down it before the patch! My FC is specifically for players with anxiety and they're progressing e8s at the moment and having fun with it. I've cleared the tier myself and dipped into PF a fair bit, hoping to move into Ultimate in the near future. Anxiety disorders are difficult to live with but you don't have to let it limit or restrict what you do in life.
Perhaps it's because more people are online now, or i am older and talking to people more, but there are a LOT more people with aniexty issues in FF14 than say like...WOW or Archeage etc.
I read some of the comments so I get how people generally feel about the OP post, but I'm going to answer it seriously from my own perspective anyway because I think it's actually an interesting question.
Disclaimer: this is just my own perspective and by no means reflects other peoples' perspectives or the tanking class in general.
When ARR first came out, I decided to give it another go (I initially joined for 1.0 but didn't understand the concept of MMOs at the time and bailed early on). I was generally very anxious about partying with other people because I had no idea what was expected of me, a lancer (I didn't know lancers became DRGs btw), and by the time I did Hatali I still didn't get it. No one was moving, so after a couple of minutes, I decided to charge in. Afterwards, I got berated for not waiting for the tank, and then they kept calling me LOL Dragoon, made fun of me, made fun of the fact I was a party leader, and then made fun of the fact that I was playing a hyur at the time (the other three were lalafells). They then proceeded to make fun of me in Portuguese thinking I wouldn't understand. (I don't speak Portuguese, but a swift translate is all it takes to get the general gist.) And from there on, I got a general sense of anxiety towards any group activity.
The only type of group activity I never had an issue with, weirdly enough, is alliance raids. But by SB, I decided to change my attitude and would just charge into things as I normally did while abiding by MMO/FFXIV etiquette XD And it has since turned out to be a lot of fun. That being said, I really struggle with Tanking even though I'm better at jumping into things that scared me before. Because they take the lead, they're generally seen as the leader. They navigate through the dungeon and most of the time others follow them (unless they get lost and someone runs ahead to show the way). There is an unspoken expectation to be the leader, though. And because of that, they get a lot of flack whenever they mess up. If the main tank messes up, it could very well result in a party wipe; same thing with the off tanks.
While Alliance Raids has always been my favourite and what I'm most comfortable with, I'm terrified to join alliance as a tank (that being said I've done it once and and I didn't get shit surprisingly! But I didn't main tank either.). They get so much flack for any mistake they do. Not just by their own party, but by the entire alliance. Sometimes, it's necessary when a tank who is doing extremely bad is refusing to listen (depending on how it's conducted). Most of the time, it's not and it'll even branch out into flat out bullying. People are way more likely to call out bad tanks than bad healers or DPS. I think people who tank are pretty rugged and resilient as a result, provided they enjoy the class and they continue to play as the class. It takes a lot of guts to play tank, I think. Not only do you have to lead, but you also have to take the brunt of peoples' hate.

I won't be coming back to FFXIV's forums. The forum vibe is way too venomous and brings out the worst in me. I don't like who I am on the forums, so it's best to distance myself.
The thing is tanking and healing can be scary if its the 1st time u do it, and honestly its not because of the role or job.. but because of having to deal with others
miss you lacan come back![]()

people have anxiety because they become obsessed with raiding and wiping over and over gets stressful and people refuse to take breaks because they need those clears. It's a stressful addiction and people need to learn when to chill out.

Snowflake generation.
Real MMO players don't care and just play the game and all of it's jobs.
Can’t speak for anyone else but once someone told me if I don’t git gud he will have a relationship with my mother and become my dadIm not taking chances since then
