Ok, I was gonna stop with the stop it post, but really? I thought I read some dumb things before, but this....Well ya it does correlate to difficulty, mental difficulty. If you spent the time riding somewhere, you will be kinda mentally fatigued when you do the fight, thus being less effective during the fight.
Also the faster you can travel places the faster you can get stuff, thus making it easier to get better stuff, thus making the game easier because you had to spend x time getting somewhere. If we didn't have teleports or what have you, non of you would have all classes 50 but only a few.
You can't be serious with that argument.
I am 100% serious my friend. http://www.leisureauto.com/bbx/426387-426898.html
Doing something will cause boredom which in return causes mental fatigue which in return doesn't let you function at full potential.
Also, I know lots of you wouldn't be motivated to choco/walk all the way out to an area everyday to level, but only on occasions, so, therefor lots of you people with lots of 50s wouldn't have those 50s(some would most wouldn't). Also lets not forget ifrit weapons, less people would have full ifrit weapons if we had to walk to GRID everytime we won, also we wouldn't have beat it soo soon as well because of less times of trying.
So yes, traveling is a challenge of its own.
How will this attract more people to the game?I am 100% serious my friend. http://www.leisureauto.com/bbx/426387-426898.html

What I find ridiculous is not so much the argument that traveling for an extended period of time leads to mental fatigue, but rather that you would advocate that as a viable form of challenge in a VIDEO GAME.I am 100% serious my friend. http://www.leisureauto.com/bbx/426387-426898.html

Tedium =/= Challenge.
You've lost your sense. Please retrieve it. For your own sake.
I would consider it a challenge. Would you consider driving 400miles a challenge? Yes you would. It's the same thing. No you don't but you are missing the point. Point is, if it's hard on your mind, it is a challenge.
Doesn't matter if it's "time sync" or whatever. If you can't handle the travel it's a challenge for you.

lol Rokien YOU are missing the point. I didn't deny that travelling is a challenge. I pointed out that it is absolutely retarded to include as a form of challenge in a VIDEO GAME.
You can run around everywhere as much as you like to get shit done.
I don't have all day.

It is time sink... as in sinking you know like a ship that gets a hole in it sinks in the ocean... Time sync would be trying to say it syncs your time... or matches your time which just wouldn't make sense.
Anyways for the most part on this... and I don't really like to go this way but I have to agree with Wolfie. Take a break from the forums for a bit before posting again please.
I personally do not see how this will cause a problem at all... with this I will still have my HP set to Gridania at the Inn and I can not set my HP somewhere else when I got to do events or just helping people with stuff. I think it works out just fine. Also I happen to take the airship all the time and I also run around everywhere and use my chocobo a lot.
But I guess some of you humans just like messing things up and taking things away from others... I think someone else posted this but I will state it again... This is why we can't have nice things...
The cat is bemused =-.-=

There are such things as "good" challenges and "unnecessary" challenges. People do things to try to alleviate the "unnecessary" type. Here are some examples:
Good challenge - Completing the quests required to get a chocobo (you get a sense of accomplishment and reward for finishing)
Unnecessary challenge - having to walk from Ul'Dah to Gridania (you just spent 2 hours of your time on this and accomplished very little, unless you take personal pride in making the journey)
Similarly, in your driving example, it can be mentally exhausting for people to drive 400 miles. In the real world, you would weigh that against the pros and cons of alternatives. If you are able to afford it (which is a challenge in itself), then you fly. If you are unfamiliar with this concept of "airplanes," think of it like an airship. Or teleporting.
See, it's all about choice!
