    I dont get why anyone would play ranged dps in PvP at this point.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    Your dmg is low and you die the moment a melee get close to you..the little CC you have only delay the inevitable.
    Melee does everything 10x better ( better damage, way higher survivability)

    This sounds more like a Frontlines balancing problem rathee than Ranged being weak or Melees being strong.

    In 5v5 the roles arent so different in viability.

    I agree, MNK, NIN and SAM really need to be tuned down a bit. Imo any attack thst goes through guards need to go.

    I'd like to see guard-penetrating attacks go as well, but not without compensation. Let guard/purify be clutch buttons that can get you out of a sticky situation without being instantly countered, but definitely buff those who lose their guard counters in some other way.

    If you want balanced ranged give them more penetration through guard. Give them a reason to exist besides being juicy meat shields for Ninja/Monk to bully. Already bad enough their DR is significantly lower, (even with nerfs incoming in 6.4) Purify should be made to both cleanse all CC currently casted on you, and prevent further CC for 2 or 3 seconds.

    Hot take, machinist needs to be completely revamped. Just takes them getting caught with their pants down with no guard or purify to get murked and killed instantaneously - And that LB in frontlines may as well be completely useless since it only does a significant chunk of damage to ranged/casters. At least give them an ability to leap backwards like bard.

    Guard is not supposed to be a last ditch tool to use. You're supposed to use it proactively. I know a lot of time you end up using it because you're about to die, but generally you already half deserve to die when it happens. It can still help as a tempo tool to let healers help you, but then you also have a counter that is called drill, mineuchi, etc.

    Another problem is how the game is programmed with snapshot vs animation delay, the latter which guard has, and sometimes even when using it at full HP you end up low HP when the guard actually goes up.

    MNK meteodrive is another problem altogether.

    Purify prevents further CC for 5s. Sometimes it's jank because the buff has a small delay but that's another story.

    I can't talk for FLs but I think MCH performs really well in CC. One of the highest AoE damage in the game with DNC (behind BLM/SMN), great control tools, and insane alpha strikes/bursts.
