we had that, they removed it because they wanted to make casual for the masses, PvP wasnt always accessible with lvl30... it used to be max lvl 50/60
and on top of that you needed PvP GC Rank to even buy some of the higher ilvl gear...

Then they opted for lvl1 gear, so casuals and newbies can still glam the new gear, ofc it was a bad move for any veteran players who could have used the gear

Maybe you didn't notice yet, but this game caters with their decisions a lot to new/entry/trialtype players. It must be more lucrative to get a bigger playerbase than designing a game for the ones who play it longterm.

That is why I'm 99% sure they won't do something like that.

OP not saying the gear should be for pvp. The old system we had was strictly pvp gear with pvp stats. OP is simply suggesting pvp as another alternative to earn tokens for pve gear and its upgrades, which I don't see a problem with as long as the job you queued as is level 90. Its no different than how it works now where you have to have a level 90 job queued to earn the current tomes.

Well gearing alts has always been a pain in FFXIV, and at least a new way to do so would be nice for people who'd rather do FL/RW/CC. And it's not like people would be asking for savage gear, but something that allows to function decently on a dungeon/extreme level would be good already.

We had PvP gear that could be used for PvE, and they removed it, because of the reasons I said. Im not saying it should be for PvP only. The old system wasnt strictly PvP gear, the substats were random. It had a morale stat but that didnt block you from using it in PvE. Garo gear was even closer to max PvE ilvl I think, than the previous PvP gear.

But then they made PvP for LvL30 and the gear became LvL1, why would they change that? All the low level players couldnt buy the gear then. And that is something SE wants to prevent.

Can always incorporate the stat-less version into the progression. Step 1, lvl 1 glamour gear, step 2 stats, 3 upgraded stats to match ilvl creep. I don't really see a challenge in solving that issue.

Alternatively it could have stat sync to them... which would be pretty wild... (like the earrings). Would potentially mess with crafted gear when new jobs are added though. As PvP gear would become epicly useful due to QoL.

Can make it have a floor sync. Can wear at any level, doesn't apply stats unless X level or above. Which would make the progression system easier (gear for level 80 would for example be available to all levels but in the stats section it would state stats apply at level 80 and above). Step 1 buy gear, 2 upgrade it.

/shrug, I mean SE may be scared about adding the option which is the point of this thread to say don't be scared it sounds great.. but in terms of execution I think there are a lot of options.

Not really suitable

2nd method like you said, could be pretty strong and make a lot of other sources of gear irrelevant. Crafters will sell nothing, only high lvl gear where the bots determine the price already anyway.

3rd method I could get behind, dual use item, glam and PvE item at certain level, easy and simple. Though they would have to adjust their glamour system for it and recode stuff, not sure if they want it. E.g. usually you arent allowed to glam lvl 80 gear on lvl 20 gear, with this method you would be. So it would have to only affect this certain gear but not other normal gear, so all PvP gear gets to have an exception flag or something.

They could also offer 2 versions, with different costs. One for just glamouring, than an second upgraded looking version, that maybe looks stronger and more detailed or is just dyeable, that is the max lvl version. But it would also cost more wolfmarks.

Still dont understand why they are not adding any longterm rewards for PvP players, a PvP relic system, maybe based on wolf collar weapons or additional PvP ranks past level 50 that could unlock mounts at lvl 100 or 200. It would be just a prestige grind item.

They should also add aetheryte tickets for wolfmarks...

But bro, this game is now 10 years or so lol, they missed this 'content potential' for years which would bind people longterm and give them a reason to play PvP. It is cheaper to do a fanfest tournament I guess.

They didn't remove it. The gear is still available, they just removed the pvp stat that was tied to it.

The system could literally be as simple as letting us use the crystal currency from the series pass, but just have like a cap of how much you can spend on the pve gear.

~They removed the concept of having PvE gear from PvP.

A system that doesnt exist yet. How does the system know how much you spent last week? Or if you miss a time period, even if you PvPd to get crystal currency, you have to wait to get additional items?
And even if there is no cap, there could be people who havent exchanged all their crystals from last series. It is not that simple.

The cheapest way is they just add both versions. Or let us upgrade the lvl1 to lvl 90.

It wasn't pve gear to begin with... You seem to be missing this point that the gear originally was pvp gear with a pvp stat. When they removed the pvp stats and normalized everyone's stats they started stepping back on gear with other stats on them and became glamour rewards.

I doubt its that difficult to tie a currency limit to a specific vendor with "X amount left available to spend at this vendor."
