Zepla about FFXIV Relic and Square Enix not taking any Risks

I like Zepla but I don't know why people keep posting this link like it's some gospel. I have my own relationship to FFXIV and gaming in general, and Zepla's personal opinion for herself has no bearing on that.

It's funny how when an influencer is mindlessly praising the game they're wielded as a bludgeon to dismiss critical feedback and yet when an influencer is expressing concern regarding the state of the game as an actual game suddenly their opinion is treated as irrelevant.

I can't stand streamers. I think they're one of the worst things to happen to gaming - but that aside, her concerns are very valid and shared by many here.

I'm seen people here consider her and others such as Mr happy shills and paid by SE so they only have positive things to say.

Now their opnions are "valid" and shared by "many."

They are kind of shills. Shill is a little harsh though, they are promoter/ambassadors. I think some online games actually pay streamers to do this. I remember reading a few articles about it. In the past Mr Happy has gotten special access hasn't he? So for them to turn on FF14 is not a good sign. It is in their best interest to keep their mouth shut and move on. I don't begrudge them promoting the game in a positive light. I will read negative reviews on steam and see if those things might bother me. If nothing is a real red flag then I read a few positive and try the game.

^ This. The only FFXIV streamer I can stand is Xenosys Vex, and even then I only watch his clips, I don't think I could actually watch a full stream. That being said, Zepla's concerns are indeed valid, regardless of whether or not she's a streamer.

However, it does feel like streamers are only expressing these concerns now that it isn't unpopular to do.

I can't stand any FFXIV content creator, none of them are entertaining to me (from what little I have seen). But yes, valid concerns are valid concerns, regardless of the source.

I don't disagree, previously they would have been cancelled by the community for criticism, as far as I remember.

I don't mind them until they start behaving like they're some kind of blessing in this game. There are many of them and honestly, it's so cringe to watch.

NEWS FLASH - While their video views/popularity is decent, they are so contemptibly small compared to the actual player base of the game. Majority of the people I know in the game don't even watch content creators.
