As much as I'm not a fan, I'd take that over that DR/PoD step of the 80 relics. First is rarely done in pickup, and organised party are rare and ask you for several hours, and second drop rate is awful.

Youre far from the only one. Id wager a guess most are happy or indifferent, and are quietly playing the game.
because there is already too much to do in EW![]()
When they listen to people who don't like relic grinds, this is what we get.
Edit: Also this isn't just an issue of it being "lazy" or "daily roulette" grind. It is also just bad game design. They already use the previous tome for a lot of avenues already. There's a reason why crafting mats/pots/food went up in price when 6.35 released another tome step. They are hesitant to mess with the economy when it comes to bumping savage out a week, but don't have an issue with toying with crafting prices by funneling more things into tomes?

Granted I dont think many of us praised the previous relic grinds.
But we've accepted and accustomed to it because that was the standard for these so when you just overly simplify the acquisition of the relics to just basic tomestones for every single one then yeah there's a problem.
We accepted that the relic grind was content to do, and it was accepted that the grind was there to not only push specific older content and new content into relevancy but to also help pass the time between patches (even though people still rushed it before the next patch anyway).
We just want the unique grind standard back.
I think that's the crux of it, there is no current grindable content in the game since that is usually the lane the relic took up. As a super casual it gave me something to work towards and I don't have that in EW now.Granted I dont think many of us praised the previous relic grinds.

Honestly it doesn’t bother me… we knew we weren’t getting a special zone. And even then, I would’ve enjoyed Bozja more if all the grind were contained within Bozja. I loved CLL and DR, and the in-zone Fates. I hated doing all the random outside Fates for the gems that may or may not drop. I don’t mind grinding, but don’t put random drops on top of it! lol especially when I need 30 of each!
Not to say that they shouldn’t do something to make old Fates worth doing again. Now that we also have bi-color gems on the Source, there’s no lore reason to prevent adding them to all the Fates if you’re doing them with a character above level 80. And really the 80-90 Fates could use a bump in gems at this point.
But in absence of a special zone, I’m fine with the tomestones. At least then I can pick what I want to do. Would I prefer a special zone? Yeah but honestly I’m just glad with this being a Manderville thing, we weren’t required to grind Gates instead of Fates! lol
Speaking of XI, they will be having their free login campaign starting in a couple of weeks for anyone who pokes around on there. The discount campaign will also be starting at that time, so if you've ever been curious, you can pick up the full game for $10.
I don't play XI much anymore, but whenever I do resub, I usually try to chip away at my yagrush (WHM relic). I love long grinds, and the steps in XI did actually get me into content that I pretty much ignored while I was playing the game constantly back in the day. There is nothing wrong with things taking time, including difficult steps or being costly (within reason).
To clarify on this, it starts May 12th at 1AM PST and ends May 22nd at 1AM PST. More info on the free login (for those who have played it) here.
