You don't think it is a little unhealthy? Do the people wishing him happy birthday know the birthday of there doctor, hair cutter, or any number of people they interact with on a regular basis. In the past some have even sent gifts to SE.
It takes very little effort to wish a happy birthday to someone who had a big part in creating something you love. I wouldn't call that unhealthy at all.
Yeah, I would, if I knew when their birthday was. Maybe it's cultural, but from where I hail, wishing strangers a happy birthday is a normal thing to do.
