We don't need to remove characters game of thrones style, but we do need to be able to control the size of the cast some, and these issues don't help.

Not because I don't like them, but because it will allow not only a new design for them, but also let them have a growth spurt when not in the main story. I would actually love that. Poor WoL, having to look up at them now (unless they are a super tall person themselves).

Then again, if they are a Lalafell WoL, they're probably used to it.

Probably best if we all just accept that they'll never be gone for long, because that ship's already passed us by several times.

I wouldn't say I dislike most of the main cast, but -- I mentioned this in another thread -- most of them are redundant. So many are Sharlayan-educated exposition machines who do little more than jerk each other off when they're all together, because they all share such similar perspectives.

Say what you will about the characters in question, but I do think the current msq's configuration of traveling companions has struck a nice balance, with Estinien, Y'shtola, and Vrtra, since they all bring something different to the table, both in purpose and personality.

I'm indifferent to Krile, and I'm open to liking her more in 7.0 if it goes that way, but I'm less enthused about the prospect of G'raha tagging along, since that seems likely. Not because I don't like him -- I found him a lot more entertaining in EW than ShB, and I do think that he needs to join the WoL on an actual adventure to eventually fulfill his arc -- but because he and Krile are just going to be yet another echo chamber "ah, yes"-ing each other into infinity.

I think I saw somewhere that people believe that with this "Big Event" thats being teased with the Conclusion of Endwalker, that there would be a Time Skip.
One big enough similar to 1.0 - 2.0 would be quite interesting. The twins being older would be pretty awesome. Professor X finally getting out of the chair, sh00t, would be epic.

The problem though is that you are the side character, the WoL, by nature of what they are, cannot have strongly defined personality traits, they must always be enough of a blank slate so that you may headcanon whatever personality traits you'd like into them, the only canon personality traits they have are, "generally heroic", and "is afraid of Rowena", and this is very much by design, thus a trait present in most stories in this game is that the WoL is a bit piece in other people's stories, Alex raids are Mide and Roundrox's story, Omega raids are Cid, Nero and Alpha's story, Eden raids are Ryne and Gaia's story, Pandæmonium raids are Themis and Erich's story, if your problem is that you are following somebody else's lead, this will sparsely change, with occasionally we getting stuff like DRK quests that put a huge deal of focus on the WoL, and if they get rid of the Scions in any way(which I consider... unlikely to say the least), we will just find another group of people who can think for themselves so they can decide the plot and we can follow their lead, I firmly believe this to be completely inevitable.

The WoL I would say does serve as the heart and the catalyst but by dint of the fact that we don't speak or really have a set personality, we're always going to be the power behind others. I think it's possible that the Scions could be off on their own pursuits and either call us to help them or we go see what they are doing and become involved in some things that way. They seem to be doing that in the patches. I think people also forget that the WoL has been through hell and back with these people. They're family now and going to be the first people the WoL calls on if possible for help. And the WoL will be the one they call on. Any new cast we'd need to build a relationship up with. Otherwise unless we were completely disconnected from the Scions, it wouldn't make sense that we would call upon those people instead of our family.

I do think we've started that relationship with some other characters. I could see people like Gosetsu, Gaius, Fordola, or Erenville finding their way more into the MSQ although unfortunately some of that relationship-building has been left to optional content.

Fordola I feel would be very nice because everyone treats the WoL like they're all that and a bag of chips and she's still got that grudging respect but animosity going on and would serve to keep the WoL's feet on the ground.

I'm genuinely curious if people truly missed what they all but spelled out, or if this is just used as some kind of excuse. It was made abundantly clear that the "disbanding" was only the official line so that the Scions could go back to their preferred approach of operating behind the scenes and not being associated with any of the governments. There was never any intention whatsoever for the group to actually disband.
