I moved to the new datacenter 3 months ago for better housing options (yes, late to the party and the busier realm), and aside from a sm FC have had 0 luck, even on small, less desirable plots. At the end of the day, some people just have continued bad luck. It's unfair to assume people who keep losing just keep losing because they're bidding on prime spots each time. Sure it happens, but it also doesn't happen. At the end of the day, the old AND new housing systems are deeply flawed. And for a game that advertises housing, it sure doesn't hold up its end of the bargain well.
Honestly though a lot of people REFUSE to go for anything less then a medium until there are no mediums left and its part of the problem. Even if your not going for the prime spot There are 6 medium and 3 large per division so it becomes multiple times more difficult for you to attain a home; even in this thread I was reading how folks are talking about unsubbing because they have not caught the daunting unicorn. I think fixing the item limit will help but honestly I think just "reworking" the housing system itself. That is not a call for instanced housing which I feel will just turn the concept of housing being a "place" into a endless slew of silly pet projects that will liter the game and be forgotten (like the large sum of empty apartment rooms on most servers) but rather I am refering to stuff like opening up the ability to share your home more; to expand your home more and generally encourage more players to actually engage the housing system while at the same time giving them the means to do so.
