Look, I get the want to have content that lasts longer then it has been recently. That the four months wait for a major patch is probably too long. Yet with how some people complain on here; it it comes across ass though they expect the game to have a new thing to be released every week if not every other week. That their level of need for content is trying to treat the game as one would a mobile game. There are others who have out right said they would play the game 24/7 if you know that pesky sleep wouldn't get in the way. Or that even playing a different game after logging off from XIV for the day is an inconceivable concept to them. That they recoil at the mere thought of playing something else.

Content doesn't need to be released weekly, it just has to be designed smartly. The systems are built to be fun for one or two times tops as of right now.

If you use people who can't be responsible for themselves as the base for designing this game that is a flawed approach. "Oh hey, lets not make this fun to replay because a few people can't control themselves" is punishing the userbase. Regardless, the folks that can't control themselves have a fundamental issue with themselves. Even if FFXIV got so boring they quit they'd still find any other game they could play 24/7. Making this one stale wouldn't solve any problems.

I don't think they do. I'm also not saying that just because there are those are like that longer lasting and or fun content shouldn't be made. All I'm saying is some of people when they say they want content that's coming out more often and last longer just come off as Varuca Salt stamping her feet and going "I don't care how I want it now." Or that they'd rather the devs have to deal with crunch and a repeat of what led to the unexpected long wait between 3.0 and 3.1. Instead of how it is now where part of the schedule is so that they can take breaks. I still remember when some people complained that part of the reason one of the more recent patches didn't come out quicker was so that they wouldn't need to feel the pressure of having to work between Christmas and New Years.

And heaven forbid it's even suggested to just do some stuff with some friends in game. Hell, at this point I'm only coming in when the friends want to do stuff like EXs, roulettes, deep dungeon, etc. In the meantime when they don't, I've been playing Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection, Sackboy Adventure, Dragon's Dogma, Grandia, etc etc. Don't have to live in this game after all.

This is a healthy attitude imo. Also, is Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection (good lord that mouthful) worth the $50?

Yes it is. If you get the physical edition it comes with all the games on the cart (albeit through 2 different apps to separate 1-3 from 4-6). While they're straight ports of ALL of the GBA versions, the game includes its own trophies you can unlock, it has Megaman.EXE on the main screen talking to you (with the original English AND Japanese voices from the anime speaking!), and comes with a nice little "cheat" called Buster MAX that you can turn on at any time. It takes your Buster's base damage and multiplies it by 100, making it easy to get past any enemies giving you a really hard time (I CAN'T STAND WOODMAN) or if you just want to breeze through the games quickly. Also has all the online network stuff including battles and trading. Also you can "download" strong battle chips for each game, like the Bass battle chip for MMBN1 (does 200 damage to all enemies once per battle).

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it does come with an art gallery, AND a music player so you can listen to your favorite tunes from each game.

Well I'm glad yours still log in. All of mine quit long ago saying the content cycle sucks and I'm the only one who stuck around. Funny how Yoshi P was right about the silent leaving first.

Yeah I really doubt they login. It sounds like he's the one just AFK on retainers while playing Grandia. Which yeah, it's sad. It's the same shit I'm doing while 90% of my FC is at an average 100 days since last login. The ones that do login don't even feel motivated to even do anything but AFK, because they're just going through the motions of habit. If you join one of those mega FCs, it's also the same thing. No matter how many people they invite, most are AFK or doing single-player MSQ.

The world is so scripted, we already know what to expect with everything we do - So why bother doing anything more than once? I don't feel a sense of adventure anymore. It doesn't feel like the devs are working on an MMO, it feels like they're working on a single-player game with housing.

It's like all of these people telling us there's so much content to do, forget that most of us aren't high-end raiders and don't want to feel pressured into joining a static. But we still want fun and difficult things to do in general.

"I don't want to feel pressured to do content because there's so much of it" meanwhile, their suggestion for content is to feel pressured.. ?

Yeah, I'm in a really big FC and this checks out.

Even for high end raiders, I do raid in this game, sometimes statics, sometimes pugging it but this is a lot of effort and sometimes I just want to chill with a fun game where I don't have to be hyper organized. Bozja and the SB period was the closest to these things that I really found fun. I felt like I could login and have something that was engaging, and people could die but we could also succeed and I didn't need to have a plan with strats super memorized with tight windows/pots/etc....

Even the roulettes were okay in SB because dungeons were just dangerous enough that I didn't check my cell phone while on auto run.

Never in my life had I logged on, looked at the roulette, gotten nauseous and logged off again. Here is the thing though, if these activities still were sort of dangerous and I could help people in the game or work with them to get some objective done I'd be happy. But nope. I could put a monkey on my chair and leave and the dungeon would still get cleared. Everyone in this game is irrelevant, heck the healer is irrelevant in dungeons now. Bots? humans? who cares, noone talks and stuff so easy its HP may as well drop automatically. No wonder people just rush dungeons and get hyper toxic, I legit understand them, not that I say anything.

The only reason I'm still on is because I got into this game and really learned to love it back when it wasn't this. I wanted the graphics update real bad, and asked for it in these forums and an email they sent requesting feedback. Since they announced it I'm staying and paying for it in 7.0 because I want my money to go where my mouth is. If not I would've already quit, and after 7.0 if the game doesn't become fun again I'll be out as well. If Endwalker is what the next 10 years look like I don't see a point really.
