are you sure it's not just your tastes that have changed?

Nah, they definitely have changed in more recent times then say oh idk 20ish years ago. And thanks Renalt for necroing a decent thread.

I haven't had a Hot Pocket in years. Do they actually taste like food now?

Depends on your definition of "Food"
Because hey, who knows if anything we are fed is even food anymore with how heavily Processed things are nowadays. (And then Veganism trying to get ahold of the food industry)
But, I think HotPockets have gotten better since...years ago XD

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.

*heat hot pocket up in a microwave for a min*
*drop that pocket in a deep fryer or hot oil for a bit*
*take it out and let it cool*
I can feel my arteries clog up eating it but man, I can't eat a hot pocket unless it's properly fried to a golden brown crust on the outside and gooey cheese on the inside now! It's one of those things you treat yourself to once in a while.

I'm the same way with cheap frozen burritos. I'm surprised my heart and arteries are as good as they are with the amount of fried food I used to eat.*heat hot pocket up in a microwave for a min*

Okay.. recipe time!

Kacho's Simple Peppercorn Burgers
INGREDIENTS
2 lbs ground beef
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
5 tablespoons black pepper, coarsely cracked
6 slices sharp cheddar cheese
6 kaiser rolls, split
DIRECTIONS
1. Mix all ingredients except pepper, cheese and rolls.
2. Shape mixture into 6 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
3. Press 3/4 teaspoons of the pepper into each side of the patty.
4. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours before grilling.
5. Heat grill.
6. Grill patties uncovered about 4 inches from medium heat 12 to 17 minutes, turning once, until no longer pink in center and juices run clear.
7. Top each burger with cheese slice for last 2 minutes of grilling.
8. Serve burgers on rolls.
An interesting variation is to cook the burgers in a skillet, blackening* the patties with the peppercorns, and topping the cooked burger with blue cheese, and carmelized onions, instead of sharp cheddar cheese
*Open the windows and get the fans running! The air gets quite smokey and spicy! My wife says I'm tear gassing the apartment whenever I make the burgers this way*
