damn, I'm so glad they weren't able to ruin English Haurchefant, he was so good. Thank God for that reckless localization team.

I feel as though he was objectively better in the Japanese script and actually did more for the tone and mood of the setting than he does in the English one. Characters are designed to be pieces of a scene, not be the scene themselves, and such a sentiment cannot be said enough in the context of an RPG.
He stuck out like a sore thumb and I could feel that something was missing from him. I also feel as though the person who pushed for these changes simply opted to leave him as-is, something else would have filled that gap, or that it would have been forgiven or just not as acknowledged.
