They flat-out admitted it was a mistake and apologized after people got upset over it all.
I don't like the way Haurchefant was re-written and want them to fix him by going back and doing a proper re-implementation of the narrative elements and assets so that way it's all in-line with the JP characterization and the vision is more consistent, or, at the very least, making it to where the text spoken is in-line with whatever language option the player has set.
I would honestly prefer that much more, since it accommodates those who prefer the revisionism and satisfies those who want the 'true' vision.

The fact that the person who ruined what would have otherwise been a better character (at least in *my* opinion) is a good thing.
I want them to consider going back and doing a proper re-implementation of the narrative assets, one that's not only consistent across all languages, but also true to the character's initial inception, if not outright having such a preference be respected as an option in the Settings menu.

damn, I'm so glad they weren't able to ruin English Haurchefant, he was so good. Thank God for that reckless localization team.

I feel as though he was objectively better in the Japanese script and actually did more for the tone and mood of the setting than he does in the English one. Characters are designed to be pieces of a scene, not be the scene themselves, and such a sentiment cannot be said enough in the context of an RPG.
He stuck out like a sore thumb and I could feel that something was missing from him. I also feel as though the person who pushed for these changes simply opted to leave him as-is, something else would have filled that gap, or that it would have been forgiven or just not as acknowledged.
