Id play it if the sub was shared :3

I imagine a shared sub with no change in price from the normal FFXIV sub probably wouldn't happen, but some form of discounted shared sub would be neat. Something like the FFXIV (or FFXI) sub price +$5/month and you get access to both games.
I've had a mild interest in trying out FFXI for awhile, but unlike XIV, the free trial doesn't get you too far past beginner stuff unless you hard commit to playing a lot in that time.
I wish they'd just roll back FFXI to cap it at 75; pre-Abyssea. I felt the game took a hard turn for the worse after that. Part of the reason I came to FFXIV. I'd almost consider a dual sub if there was that option. As it stands, I may have seen FFXI clone servers and while the community does a great job, it isn't the same.
If they ever do some combination sub it's going to be some form of discount for XI, I don't ever see them just include it into the base sub for XIV (like WoW has with Classic), XI is still a profitable game for SE but it would drop if they included it into the sub. I could see something like 18.99 or 20 a month for both games and I'd probably be onboard with that.I imagine a shared sub with no change in price from the normal FFXIV sub probably wouldn't happen, but some form of discounted shared sub would be neat. Especially now when producer of the game (Akihiko Matsui) has stepped down and the director will take over and game is getting less developers to work on it, semi maintenance mode now.
They could make FF 11 Online Free to Pl .... ehhh, i have to go!
Cheers
TBH it was annoying enough back in the day when they decided to start doing free trial versions because the primary users of that were RMT spammers and the frequency of being bothered by them via /tell exploded about 10,000x afterwards.
I wholly support the idea of having one subscription plan that allows you to play both FFXIV and FFXI. However, I think it's very unlikely for SE to introduce it for the same price as the FFXIV subscription. Instead, I think it would be fair to add a value of $2.99 to the new subscription plan/option so players who just want to play either FFXIV and FFXI without the other can do so without paying more, while players who want to play both don't have to pay too much, as the whole point of merging or introducing one subscription is to pay less than the price of two subscriptions, in addition to giving the incentive to try the other game.
Speaking of FFXI, I think if SE wants to pump some new blood into its playerbase and its life then it would be a great start to introduce a new launcher to it, or even better, unify FFXI and FFXIV into one single launcher instead, both suggestions' main goal is to simplify the rough process of FFXI installation.
They justify it, because plenty of people pay it. Until it doesn't pay the power bill, then it will remain as is.Free logins is pretty much the way to go with XI.
I say this as a guy who thinks XI is vastly superior to XIV, but one gets expansions...the other does not. Imo, you got the right idea. I only play during free logins most of the time, or the rare gear dial campaigns.
A shared sub would be ideal, because you cannot really justify charging people for a game which receives zero meaningful updates beyond fixes.....lol.....Like they are doing us a favor or something......
Vote up from me.
And to piggyback off of that, if it weren't making enough money to support itself as a bare minimum, they'd sooner drop the whole thing than make it free-to-play or bundle it as part of the XIV subscription service (which would still be essentially making FFXI free through XIV - it wouldn't be earning any money of its own).
A discount for linking subscriptions would be more likely.
