Funny you say That about the USA, but NA has the biggest player base next is the EU. Maybe because most the player base is here in NA. But SE only cares about the JP player base and works around them. What's happening for maintenance on July 4th?
its a old topic from last year
'Wah wah maintainance on my play time'
Welcome to Australia where every maintenance happens during our peak time, in every single game.
No matter what time they do maintenance someone will be hit with it. Also u could start a new treadSeriously 24 hrs for the Rest of the world when it's the North American servers only. I also agree with the original poster, SE it is bad timing. Your explanation is to replace NA equipment and maintenance for patch 6.38. Your timing could not be worse. And for people like me in Australia, why do our servers need to be down for 24 hrs due to the replacement of North American servers? Btw I am one of the first to say USA people "that they don't know about the rest of the world" it's a joke we use all the time. Because a lot of Americans don't know even where Australia is on a map. Our land size is nearly as big as the US, its not hard to find us on a map. But in this case, it is SE (Japan) not knowing about the rest of the world :P ie 4th July holiday. For those that are going wah wah boo boo, are you SE moderators? Two thumbs, and two big toes down for SE on this one.
It's not a picnic for the EU either but it's not the end of the world.
I'm pretty sure it was downtime for all regions when we got new servers in EU last year too, so nothing new.
There is likely some technical interconnectivity we plebs don't know about that do require to pull everything offline and link up. They're also doing a regular maintenance to add a new patch, so it's not just swapping out hardware.

Better to do it right than do it fast.
