Do people really get this bent out of shape over their "reputation" in an online game? This is why I don't touch RP venues anymore with a ten foot pole. Wild community.

I use to be someone who didn't care about reputation a few years ago. I did whatever I wanted, as I wanted. Said what I wanted as I felt. I was very careless and had no tact. And really it felt pretty liberating to not care about my rep. However, over time I found that it would cost me. I won't go into detail about what had happened to me because this isn't the place for it. However, I will say the outcome was that when it came to wanting to join statics, get into streaming, engage with discord communities, join FCs, or do just about anything. People didn't want to socialize with me or have anything to do with because of how I was behaving. It eventually hit me that I made some dire mistakes and should have been more mindful about my actions and behavior in the past. So yes, I can honestly say that people do worry about their reputation because depending on what you want out of life, it does matter. And you might not find out for years that you should have taken better care of it.
I'm not going to read an 18 page thread of people slinging feces at each other so my solution to the problem is everyone just get along.
I can't really speak on this without knowing context. I could say it's very unfair that people are holding grudges for this long but I don't know what it is that you did. All I know is that I've made my own share of mistakes and simply switching servers alleviated those because it was an entirely new group of people. Then again, I've also had no desire to have my life under a microscope in the way streamers do so.....no money or popularity in the world would make me want to give up my privacy and the ability to make mistakes.I use to be someone who didn't care about reputation a few years ago. Well that depends on what you are talking about and how you construct your thoughts A. Take for instance the OP. They have made serveral post in the past in regard of "Why they wont play job" because of glamour or to say the omega emote is tasteless because they couldn't get the statute.Agreed. Been a victim of it myself. Worst is that one of the people doing it reported tons of my posts to get me banned for two weeks, but when I've reported posts that were outright horrible, the person didn't even seem to get a warning. It's REALLY hard having calm and peaceful conversations when there are some people that will literally follow you into different parts of the forums into different threads just to bash you there and try to turn people against you, lie about it in other parts of the forum, and take part in big dogpiles of bashing people all over the place with total impunity.
It's not hard to be nice to people, but some people just want to "win", so they bash and personal attack instead. What's worse, though, is when people try to gang up and dogpile and not one of them can see it. In one of the subforums here (Healer), it's so bad that if anyone goes in there and posts anything positive about Healers, the mob will jump into the thread to either badmouth their views, them, or both. A lot of people just outright turn around and leave and don't post anymore because of how toxic their reception is. Then the people there cheer and talk about how they're the majority when they're actively bashing and running off anyone that disagrees with them. Several parts of the forum have some stuff like that (go into the DPS forum and say good things about SMN), but that's the most egregious case I've seen.
Or for instance for you as of late. I feel like sometime for you, you might want to get some fact straight before you post.

for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?
op, I dont know if your missing with people or not but I would like to put my input on the topic
I feel like that is the internet as a hole, it hurts and sometimes trigger my mental illness. I do wish it was diffrent, wish people could be kind and read the words and follow it without making a huge fit over it and attacking etc. Sadly the world and people will always be like that I know that I'm sure other people know that. reading the tags here like daddy issues does bother me slightly as some people really do have issues and talk about things maybe we word things horriblely or not.
that said if I have ever been really mean i'm sorry for what my alters said.
I do feel like maybe I and some others really shouldn't talk outside of friend group when it goes bad whenever we feel like we have to be defense.
i sincenrly apologize if i done anything bad
Alright who is the necromancer raising dead threads..
The drama I have seen from RP and RP adjacent communities is definitely some of the wildest I have seen in any game. Pretty fun to watch from a safe distance though.
