But it remains surface level, and that's my worry. Areas will still be boxed off by invisible walls, as will plenty of mountainsides and gaps in the ground. That is something I hope they change someday, to make the world feel more connected, and to just let people be free to explore, rather than saving them from themselves. For example: just allow people to jump down the Zodiark pit and die, or run around the entirety of the Pendants, or fly up on Baelsar's Wall.

And to eventually stitch nearby locales together to the best of ability and wheresoever it makes sense. Make cities one big area and cut the loading screens, make all of the Black Shroud one, make all of Thanalan one, make all of Vylbrand one. Allow people to walk from one end of the Black Shroud into Old Gridania without a single loading screen and fill the in betweens that are currently gaps/areas where nothing exists because the game was made with loading screens in mind. That is what I truly want.
That would be amazing for the old areas...less so can be done now with expansions and their zones because they tend to be distinctly miles away from each other except for say a few places that I can think off. I mean I would happily take the cities being seamless as a first step or better connect the old zones. Loading screens do not bother me especially with how short they are now on PS5 and PC,but I would obviously welcome it. There are scaling issues that would need to be worked out...like ishgard being able to be seen in cortheas but it looks tiny in comparison lol.
