The reason this topic always stirs up drama, insults and arguments is the desire for validation.

With FF14 players, this means they chose to play this game, they don't intend to quit any time soon because it's safe and comfy and they want validation that they made a good choice to support it. Complaints go directly against this. This is why many players seem to lash out defensively, tell complainers to leave and even hurl insults around.

Complaints are touching a nerve. If the game was in a healthy state and better than competing games, complaints would be laughed at and ignored. But deep down most people know it isn't in a healthy state. The complaints threaten their fragile copium bubble and they hate it. They'll launch into defensive rants about how special their mediocre game is.

They're not trying to convince us FF14 is a great game. They're trying to fool themselves.

The irony here, is that there are just as many people whom seek validation of their own complaints, and many people who don't get this validation ultimately seek to deploy the same method of throwing around insults, arguments and drama towards people that disagree with their criticisms. Almost like... Disagreeing with them touched a nerve.

A bit of reality but some people seem nigh on utterly incapable of coming to terms that their opinion and criticisms are not fact and proceed to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Can try and take high-ground and play armchair therapy as much as you like, but the reality is it's not just 1 side guilty of it.

Maybe one fifth of the complaints I see here have any real merit. Most of the time, I just roll my eyes at how petty people are.

It feels worse than usual. I've must have put around 10 people on ignore within the past month alone. Which is...well, more than I've done in the many years of being on the forums.

What's going on with people? Why are so many of you acting like this game is 72 hours away from total collapse? Yeah I know it's a content lull, but think back to the huge content lulls in Shadowbringers. Remember when The Coof was making it so Yoshi P's team had to work from home? Huge long months between update patches? I don't think things right now are as bad as people say they are. Nothing in this game's development is ever going to be perfect.

So calm down, lighten up and stop worrying so much.

Don't we play games like these to get away from the world and it's problems?

Meanwhile, EW set the record for highest playerbase to date, and covid-time (ShB) is still viewed as the best expansion. Perhaps because you kept relying on Steam charts as if they meant anything to FFXIV?
