***THIS*** . You try and play nice and match others but they undercut because they just *have* to be the 1st listed. If you gather and make your own mats *anything* you sell it for is profit outside of your repair. I'll play with you for a few iterations but if the bots keep undercutting by a gil I'll drop the price by 50%. Sells fast and not having to readjust the price 25 times a day. Still 100% profit and not playing the drop it a gil at a time game.

Tried playing the undercut by a gil game for a while but it was a full-time job trying to keep up w/ all the bots/1 gil undercutters. Profits have increased 10-fold using this method, and the stress is waaaay lower.

The new Orthos mount costs you nothing. Going to undercut that by 50% and then another 50% when someone matches you?

Dude this happened on Moogle. Was selling for 17-24mil. Then one guy came who apparently HAD TO sell it and kept undercutting by 2mil every time until it was selling for like 6-7mil. Of course all the bots kep matching the price so now there are like 20 mounts for under 8mil on the board. It just takes one ***** to screw up an item.

Was it actually selling for over 17m or just listed at 17m with none actually selling? And i am not talking about one fool buying an inflated price.
Anytime a new very rare item is introduced the price starts absurdly high with zero buyers till price drops to a point that enough purchases keep the price constant. I would have that pricecorrection happen quickly.
But sometimes demand of an item is so low that it drops to almost nothing.

Undercutting is not an in-game offense. Just because you're not making millions doesn't mean other people have to be banned.

Housing items are very vulnerable to this. Only when new wards are added prices can skyrocket. And without demolition timer, you reach a point in which sales become almost impossible.

This early in the patch cycle, it is hard to say. Not many of these mounts have entered the server, and in turn, not necessarily many sales. It is all-too-common to see items selling at a steady price and then there's that one guy (like mentioned earlier) that just has to sell his ASAP and they crash the whole market. The thing is, just because an item was selling for (maybe) 17M and then that one guy drops it to 7M (and all the relisters follow suit), doesn't necessarily mean that 1 player will risk buying up 20 7-million gil mounts just to relist them at 17. Maybe they will sell, maybe they won't. Hard to say.

When it comes to the MB game, items that sell for large amounts of gil but sell slowly are difficult to gauge. There's sometimes that case where someone lists a big ticket item missing 1 zero. If a 17M gil mount was up for 1.7M, it would be snatched up and relisted without a second thought. However, that's because it isn't worth 1.7M it is worth much more.

It's just like real life when something new comes out the price is high and soon as sales slow/stop the price is cut. If loads of companies are selling the same item price wars happen till you remove the weak :P Only people that really moan is people who have no clue how to make gil cause they are relying on that one item.

I sold a few around at that price. People were buying them. It's all because of greedy selfish players that prices tank in no-time. I see this all the time on big ticket items. One **** comes in and ruins it for everyone else because getting a quick fox for their dopamine drained minds is all that matters. Bots match prices of course and there ya go. Good luck waiting weeks before the price MAYBE goes back to where it belongs. Both the Pegasus and the Orthos mount should sell for well above 12mil. Half of the supply is from bots who match whatever price these above mentioned ****** list them for.

Of course it isn't. But it is a problem exacerbated by bots. If an item is listed for 10M, has been selling a few times a week for 10M and the supply/demand is healthy (demand only shrinking/growing a little bit), then that's a good price point. People play their undercutting game and maybe get the next sale. However, it isn't like a crafted item that is readily available. If you sell your 10M mount, you likely won't have another one ready to list.

However, before you sell your 10M gil mount, guy comes in with a price of 5M. The mounts that are relisted with bots, will all crash the price to 5M as well. But no one is willing to take that risk to buy up, let's say... ten 5M gil mounts and relist them. So, the price just stays at 5M. And chances are, the guy that first crashed it to 5M... doesn't even sell his unless he just happens to relist in the 5 minutes between when a potential buyer checks the price and the bots relist.

A lot of what goes on in the MB simply relies on a player deciding " I want X item " and then going to the marketboard and buying it. Price isn't a factor as often as you think. I listed a whole bunch of stuff at "reasonable prices" (5-10% below market rate). However, they sold slow. Let's say I made... 100 different items and listed them all with that minor discount. Some did sell in the first few days. Many did not. Over the course of a week, I relisted most of them by 95% - yes 95%. They still didn't sell.

Why? No player made that decision to buy that item and then actually go to the MB and make the purchase.
