The chair is just a chair, it's inoffensive, if not terribly colored. However, that the chair further "feeds into" the bullying and harassment of lalafell players is what concerns me. It's entirely foolish to be complaining about a chair when there's a much bigger problem at hand, which, I think, is a way more important thing to address. No one should be excluded or bullied for the race or job they play, and if people are doing that, you need to report them. If the problem persists as it seems to have, actually contact administration and make them aware of this problem. Arguing about a chair is entirely useless to what your main concern seems to be digging at; and if there wasn't this supposed harassment happening, would you take the chair and its funny description in stride?

At the same time, however, to see calls for "more respect" for lalafell seems a little silly. They are a silly race, from their alliterative nomenclature to the excessively cute and funny race-unique emotes, they were not expressly meant to be taken very seriously. I don't care about whatever the lore or characterization in the game says, I'm just objectively looking at the funny little emotes and the ridiculous names like Papalymo and Fufulupa. Sure, lalafell are easy targets when it comes to making lore-based jokes, but when they were designed in such a way to be overtly adorable and funny even when trying to do serious things, how can you act so surprised or insulted? You chose this. As a lalafell player you deserve all the same respect any other player is given. You don't deserve to be treated like a child as a player, but come on, you chose the cutesy little cherubic race and you're upset about a chair that makes that race easier to see at the table?

Agreed on the majority of this post. Oddly enough, the problem has been on display for the latter half of this thread. Either people that don't want to treat them as adults, or people that call them adults, but don't want to deal with the implications of that. Being blunt, there's far more likes on the harassment posts that came to bash on lalafell and myself. On a personal level, I'm unphased because I have 3+ people that couldn't respond to points I made so I'm considering that a win, but, in general, most people aren't as confrontational as me. When they have a bunch of people on youtube calling them idiots and having no life, and then get mocked in thread, have people triggering them on purpose, mocked by another thread in the same section, and the one person actually giving arguments on behalf of Square/the old RP community is getting borderline if not actually called a pedophile by several people. I'm used to fighting groups, but most other people wouldn't even want to deal with this. I'm personally in the halfway camp of just changing the chair name because changing people acting from emotion won't happen until there's another revision to Prohibited Behaviors and we can start getting people banned easier in-game, on other platforms and here on the forums as defamation charges that held for in-game chat and video/streaming services ran auto-10 days for violations as far as I'm aware, same camp as RMT and 3rd party software. Myself as well as other venue owners on Aether and Crystal (including A'leycat, shoutout to her because she had it nearly the roughest for a bit and toughed through it) were part of the reason for the last big update as a few people had connections to GM's to get certain issues we dealt with resolved, including the bits about clarification about sexual emotes, public defamation, doxxing, non-consideration of venue rules etc. like what I dealt with in the past. On a personal level, I don't see harassment of lalafell ending until Square does a revision that gives more power to that community like they did with venues, which is probably gonna take some big event to happen since this mob doesn't happen on JP. We weren't empowered as venues until around after 8-12 months of harassment and GM cooperation with quite literally hundreds of tickets. Although, we might be headed in that direction thanks to a particular person sharing youtube links that's putting lalafell through what we had to deal with as venues.

At the end of the day, (not that this shit is worth caring about in the first place) Square will never give a shit about this "problem". While you and so many others are raging about this, Square is still collecting all of your monthly subs and laughing all the way to the bank. So just move on, and do you then.

If you truly don't care about what I or others think about your interests or RP musings, then why does literally any of this matter? Why go to such great lengths to defend and "advocate" for lalafells? (Especially lalafell players that definitely did NOT ask for or want your "support")

If you want to ERP with lalafells, as gross as I think that is, that's your prerogative. No one is stopping you from doing whatever you want to do. Based on other long, drawn out posts that you've made here, it honestly feels like a lot of the drama that you experience has nothing to with lalafells, but more so drama that you've brought on to yourself.

Just ignore the goddamn chair, and keep RPing. Ignore everything else that doesn't align with your interests. People literally call Roegadyns the ugliest race in the game. Guess who cares? Not my ass lmao.

Too many people blindly follow ideas or concepts of what's morally right without remotely trying to understand WHY things are the way they are. In this case in this case we protect children because they are children, not because they LOOK like children. We protect them because they cannot protect themselves physically or mentally from abusers. It is RIGHT to want to protect children, but these people are NOT and shouldn't be assumed as children, both the in game characters and the people behind their monitors.

Even beyond the scope of this line of thinking.. Anybody with basic critical thinking skill can understand the difference between real life and in game, and by extension fantasy and reality, players and roleplaying. Lest you also believe anybody that plays a thief also steals in real life, or pvpers are serial killers in real life, or anybody that involves themselves any kind of pre consenting "nonconsensual" role plays are also physical and/or sexual assaulters in real life.

The extreme extension of this aggressive argument carries over to ANY form of art as well, from drawings or animation, video games.. and suggests no forms of art should EVER contain ANY sort of immoral content, violent or sexual in nature, whether it be in in favor or even AGAINST such topics. All for what, select people that didn't want to take the time to differentiate fantasy from reality? That sucks.. Work things out, investigate, or at least don't pretend like you have any sort of investment. Don't be so ready to harass or judge people on potential lies or half truths. plz donut assume

Because I wasn't here to defend lalafell specifically. Just to start:
- I have seen sfw venues that people enjoyed shut down because the owner got harassed over nsfw lalafell content they did with their EB in private
- I have seen /several/ false rape, blackmail, sexual harassment, and mental abuse allegations tossed at people that caused them to leave the game/community
- ^I have seen people that were generous in the venue community including several billionaires that helped pay the way for the current venue scene get screwed over by false allegations and leave the scene
- ^ I have seen entire FC's including minors in the FC harassed over 1 person that this type of accusation went toward
- I have seen several people driven to actual suicidal thoughts over false allegations because their support structure of friends left them. When the people that swore up and down to be there to support them through rough irl situations, abandoned them.

It's not about supporting lalafell nsfw, for me it's about being objective and not saying things or implying things that could cause people, their friends, their communities, to fall apart over an opinion that people mistake as a fact. That is why I came in quoting Yoshi-P off rip. I had a friend that literally only ERP's with viera, notorious for it, and had friends on multiple data centers asking why is there a storm of people calling you a pedophile, you don't even lewd lala's. And they had to tell them, people got mad that they let lala's do erp at their venue as long as its consenting adults. People shouldn't have to deal with that just because they decide to listen to Yoshi-P and treat someone else's taste with respect. Because they treat another culture with respect. I came here because most of the public hasn't seen or heard of harassment that happens to lalafell and related parties, and were acting as if it didn't exist. I'm here because it was sad seeing thousands of people who probably just raid and afk all day bully people over something they have no experience in, for some temporary clout and drama videos trying to act based when objectively, their opinion is based on a lie. Period.

The drama you mentioned that I brought onto myself, is because I decided to stand next to the two venue owners that gave the most to the venue Aether scene besides myself, one of which who dumped 5+bil into Aether and inspired most of the second generation venue owners. They were targeted by a group of trolls over personal issues they had at an opening, and because I was an associate/partner, I got hit as well. And I chose to stand with the other owners and joined the Anti-Troll discord that logged that 8-12 months of harassment we dealt with because I cared about the community instead of myself.

This... isn't ok. I'll apologize for the harsh words I used with you in earlier comments, because before I say what I'm about to say, the last thing I want is to be a part of the problem.

Final Fantasy XIV means a lot to me. I've been a Final Fantasy fan for many years, and joining the FFXIV community was actually one of the best decisions I've made. I've met some really great people, and had some really great experiences. Not to mention escaping into the world of FFXIV was sometimes a much needed distraction for a lot of the absolutely horrendous shit that was happening in my actual life.

HOWEVER;

If it is getting to the point where you are valuing the community/RP/whateverthefuck more than your actual needs, that is unhealthy. As an avid MMO player, I've seen too many people fall into a state where nothing else mattered, and the lines between problems that only existed in-game, and problems that existed in real life were extremely blurred, and people ended up getting hurt. Sometimes physically.

I'm not saying that you should put up with harassment, or that you shouldn't take a stand against it. People who are going great lengths to harass and harm (especially if it's leaking to IRL) should absolutely be held accountable. What I am saying is that your mental health and sanity should ALWAYS take precedence over anything else. Including this game. Including the community. Including the RP world. Including the venue community. With all due respect, based on some of your comments, it really feels like those lines are being blurred with you as well.

Which brings us back to the original topic, the chair. In the grand scheme of things, is it really worth all of this trouble? If people were going to be assholes to Lalafells, they were going to do it regardless of the chair's existence. The chair isn't the issue here.
