Don't chop miqo'te ears off with hats

Blame the designers for making gear with only Hyurs in mind, and not making different versions for other races. Looking back at gear they've progressively been getting lazier with it, as some Heavensward gear, helmets the ear pockets look like they are just a pair of spikes glued on top rather than actually being designed for them...

Late HW and SB, things started just removing the ears.

ShB onwards they're barely even trying.


Ultimately, I rather they just hide the ears rather than half-assedly try to make the gear work, because clearly they're not gonna make the extra effort to actually make multiple versions of the gear.

Back in the day they used to design head gear with ear pockets for Miqo'te all the time. Always thought of it as a nice little detail, and I wish they would pick it up again.

People might not hate the ear pockets so much if they were actually designed to fit the ears, instead of sticking two random small spikes anywhere the artist feels like it.

This was honestly pretty cool back in the day when Square Enix put some effort into details like these. Now it just feels annoying.

First, Au Ra horns clip through everything.
Then, Viera don't have headgear because they're scared of working with their ears.
Hrothgar needed to have their ears chopped off just for hairstyles.
And Miqo'te have their ears getting chopped out of headgear when there's a history of them accomodating Miqo'te ears before!

Unlike all the others, Miqo'te are getting a step backwards.

I have a question. After the backlash they got with Hrothgar, why are they continuing chopping off ears? How are they still thinking stuff like this is okay and acceptable to ship off?

Square. We said it before. Racial differences are what make your game characters interesting. If I wanted to play a humanoid character, I wouldn't have changed out of my Roegadyn.

The elves and potatos usually had "ear pockets" too on things like full helmets since they stick out the sides a bit.

Feels like gear is only really fitted to Midlanders and Lalafells, then everyone else gets to make do with whatever clipping or cutting happens.
