The white knight brigade is out in full force again. Right there with you OP, the game desperately needs long term content and this is why Endwalker feels like the most barren expansion yet. I felt the decline in Shadowbringers already but this is on a whole another level. Now we finally get longer form content with EO but what's even the point of doing it when you can just get a better weapon by farming some tomes? It's like we're in oppositeland where the relic is handed to you for nothing and you have to actually put in effort to get a weapon from deep dungeon that's inferior in every way. How do they manage to release content in the same damn patch that completely cannibalize one another... That just completely deflates my interest in the content alltogether. No one is running content just for the sake of doing it, that's why no one is doing variant/criterion anymore. This expansion has been so barren in content that I feel you'd had to have been actively avoiding leveling to not have all combat jobs at 90 by now, so there goes the leveling aspect too.

I don't even know what to think of the "relic" of this expansion. I mean as someone who plays multiple jobs it's nice that they're easy to get but farming tomes is not interesting, that's what everyone's been doing since the game came out. It just feels lazy and uninspired, like they're not even pretending to try anymore. No one in their right mind can even call this relic content, in fact this is the most pitiful noncontent for a relic we've seen yet.

I don't know if it's XVI soaking up all the time and resources or what but I haven't seen a decline this sharp in content in the game yet and I've been playing since the phase 3 of the ARR beta, not to say we haven't had issues with the subject in the past, many many a time.

This is my general take, too. We don't know whether FFXVI is taking up resources away from FFXIV or not, but given the game's history, I'd be inclined to believe so. People like Koji Fox and Soken mysteriously stopped making appearances on FFXIV - who were some of the most visible figures in the community - and the quality of the overall patches also feels different.

But then you have people come out of the woodwork saying things like "Have you cleared Ultimate?" "Have you gotten the Accursed Hoard achievement?" "Have you done X, Y and Z?" If not then stop complaining. Only to finish their statements with a "Yoshi-P said we should take a break and he's looking after us. He's so kind uwu." Usually coming from someone who started playing a year or two ago, too.

Soken is just a workaholic, him not being around isn't a big thing. If you want to take everything into account he is the composer not the writer, director or producer, they usually aren't as public facing as he was so him not being around lately wasn't a big deal. Koji Fox was a case of he said he's moved over to XVI and his understudies were in charge of XIV while he was finishing up XVI...also he's a localisation person once again love the guy but he's not a face that would be connected to seeds of doubt of things going wrong.

The team is massive...compare what came in 5.1-5.3 to 6.1-6.3 its borderline tied or more in the 6.X favour (it just lacked enough rewards to bring longevity) I remember Yoshi P saying they shifted people back and forth to give new insight between XIV and XVI. It was good for the team to make something different because eventually, they become complacent. Think about it this way too...the visual upgrade is purely the work of XVI...a lot of the dev time and features shown in the screens are work done when making XVI...

I would be genuinely unsurprised if certain posters were secretly undercover PR agents for SE, with the goal of swaying public opinion and that they were all using the same script to do so.

Did I say Legion? I meant a unit. There are a number of people who think SE can do no wrong with 14 and that's just factually wrong. No opinion. Fact. SE has done quite a bit wrong with 14 and there are in fact "Ride or Die" fans.

I like the game despite the flaws...but MAN are there some glaring flaws that really hold the game back from being something special.

Most likely that the 6.x patches have been a disaster. People are finally waking up to the reality they didn't want to admit, and the SE defense force can't stand that.

Time to replace that tin foil hat with a thinking cap. Or maybe just put the tin foil hat on top of the thinking cap.
