I don't like saying this, I don't like even thinking this. I've been playing this game (with breaks) since 2.0 open beta and have always respected the man but I can no longer take him at his word. Yoshi claimed XVI development would not affect XIV in any way and it's very clear this was a lie or at the very least a false prediction on his part. The development for that game ramped up HARD after 6.0 dropped and every patch in the 6.X cycle has been completely devoid of lasting meaningful content. To make matters worse the patches now even take longer to make, being 4 months apart instead of 3 with the occasional delay. I don't mind the increased time between patches, but I do mind the small patches with barely anything to do.

Let's look at what's been added in the 6.X cycle:
-Ultimates only cater to an extreme minority of the population (something like sub-1% of players and we are all aware how much cheating is used in that subset anyway)
-Crystalline Conflict was a cool attempt to revive PvP, but their refusal to add a casual mode or ranked mode where you can queue with friends has already resulted in this being dead too.
-Criterion dungeons were a massive lazy flop with garbage rewards.
-They've done nothing with BLU nor added other limited jobs.
-The relics have been the laziest they've ever done. Whether you enjoy this step or not I'm sure you can agree on that. You can finish each step in a single day for MULTIPLE jobs and all you do is roulettes, nothing new.
-The new deep dungeon while appreciated isn't anything special. HoH changed the formula from PotD up a bit but EO is just a carbon copy of the two more or less. There's some new pomanders and new random enemies, that's it. No surprises. HoH added massive stadium rooms full of enemies and the special summon pomanders at least, what did EO add? Nothing.
-Island Sanctuary while cute has been really shallow in what it actually delivers in terms of content. It's just a lazy boring daily grind when you boil it down.
-The MSQ bits have all been incredibly short, padded by forcing the patch cycle trials into the MSQ when they were side quests in every other expansion after ARR.

It used to be it'd take me at least a solid day or two to finish all the content offered by a patch (including story) at minimum, potentially weeks if there was relic content added. But for 6.X? I'm usually finished with the entire patch in 1-4 hours and then I'm bored again and end up quitting until the next one. I know Yoshi has also said to take breaks and play other games and I do this VERY liberally, but it really isn't fun to come back to the game for a content patch expecting to have fun and I'm done with all I care to do after just a handful of hours.
