Awaiting response from Nvidia tech support (I am too upgrading from 580 to 680 but my 680 has not arrived yet, I will report back here tomorrow if I get these crashes)

Yeah i tried the same way. And it worked only if i lower the setting worser than my 580. It's not the point lowering the graphisms when you bought a new card. Even more the famous 680...
Gpu-Z told me the crash happening this way : Stable state (50-60% gpu power used) then it burst in 2-3sec to 99%+
Something going wrong like if there was some kind of data bottling if you know what i mean. That does not seem to have to do with overclocking, power, or else. Mine was not overclocked at all. The data managnement only is compromise, so it's really a coding problem. May be hypothetic but i am **** sur myself...
My 680 works fine. Other than the subpar performance because the game is still optimized like ****.
Why would you need to overclock a GTX 680? It is singlehandedly the best video card on the market right now....
i disabled depth of field now since then no more crashes all settings highest and no ambient occlusion
Hmmm For now (30 min playing, good setting enough for a 680 without ticking depth of field) this is still working... I got 46°C against 60°C for temperature and no peaks of GPu usage more than 65%, Pretty better.
Thanks Kibble for the find. Could be really usefull if you right.
I am still hoping this won't happen again, i am kinda traumatized now x D

May have to give this a try, but it really shouldn't be needed. I am going to try with AO though, makes the colors and light in the game look better.Hmmm For now (30 min playing, good setting enough for a 680 without ticking depth of field) this is still working... AO really isn't optimized to run well. I had this turned on with my Radeon 6970 and I lose 15 fps from it. Turn it off and I run 60 fps everywhere but crowded Ul'dah. I can get away with running Depth of Field, but AO has been a problem for a long time. That and don't run your general graphics settings over 8. I think you could have a 6GB video card with some killer settings, but just the way the game is currently coded you'll never be able to run it at max settings and still get max fps.
i tried with AO on the first time i got the card and my fps went down to 15 totally unplayable back to stable 60 without it maybe that was just me :xAO really isn't optimized to run well.
