I think the issue is they're too busy with FF16 right now. I think it's in the final stages and this is always the worst time for any game in production. They're rushing to finish everything they can before the release date. I'm hoping once FF16 is done, Yoshi will be able to give FF14 his full attention.

There's a lot to look forward to still though. We have our graphical update, most likely female Hrothgar and I'm hoping with Hrothgar done Viera / Hrothgar headgear will finally be released, let alone everything that comes with an expansion.

Also, generally speaking, this time is usually the dead time for FFXIV. Just before an expansion announcement the game goes into a lull. It's a great time for people to pick up housing, catch up on content, and get ready for the big announcements in summer. If you're done with your character, it's a good time for a break or to work on Manderville weapons.

A ton of people deeply love this patch cycle so far. It gives us time to play other games. You see, you just need to wait your turn until your patch comes out. Just two more months until the next one is announced! You just need to pay $26. In comparison, a movie with popcorn costs $30+. A night at the strip club can cost even more. And don’t get me started with those $70+ games. We’re all hyped for the future patch. Me, personally? I’m enjoying 6.35. There’s new items, a new DD, new characters, and most importantly? It’s the same old game we all know and love, so I can just do Crystal Tower over and over again. Take that, WoW! Did you know that World of Warcraft cut half of their playable content? FFXIV isn’t like that! You can play through everything! That’s what makes us the best MMO right now. And who doesn’t like to finish a game and then move on? FFXIV respects our time. I can play for an hour or so on the weekends and then resume my other games. In fact, you don’t even need to play to continue your sub. You can just log on for 5 minutes a day, that’s all you have to do. It’s not that much of a hardship to keep subbed. And still, there’s SO much to do. Where’s your Big Fish? Your Necromancer? Why don’t you have all of the mounts? Your Lodestone shows that you haven’t even gotten 100% of the achievements. Why are you complaining about lack of content? Honestly, I’ll never be bored of FFXIV, this is easily the best game ever and I wish I could tip the developers when paying my sub.

I love the deep dungeon but the fact that you basically have to organize a pseudo-static or otherwise solo just to get to the super deep levels is just so utterly painful and the fact that the new one is just an overglorified reskin is akin to putting gold leaf on a turd.
