Well because it gives people a chance to pick and choose where they want to bid. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to log in every single day. 5 days leeway is plenty for everyone to put in a bid.

Because you live the lives of every single human being on the planet and therefore know everything? Some days I don't have two minutes to even think about playing the game. There are people in the world like that. You're just so stuck on the 'excuses' bit and not providing any rebuttals except for 'excuses'.

Two minutes to bid if you have access to what ever system you use for gaming. Those that do a lot of traveling for business frequently don't always have access to their systems so having 2 minutes free is frequently useless. Having the 9 day schedule gives them a better chance of hitting a day in both halves of the cycle when they have access.

As we also keep pointing out, it creates a larger pool of houses to bid on during each entry period. If a world has 1500 players trying to purchase a house, the shorter the lottery period the more competition per available plot there will be. The bigger entry numbers are more demoralizing to those trying to get a house.

Throwing out numbers at random for an example:
An average of 3 plots become available each day. If the cycle is 2/1, that's 9 houses available. If the 1500 players spread their bids evening, it's a 1 in 167 chance to run. With a 5/4 schedule there would be 27 plots available so a 1 in 56 chance to win. That's still not great but it's better than 1 in 167.

One of my friends often takes business trips out to regions of Africa for their work where being able to stay logged into the game for longer than 1 second would be a miracle. If the lottery cycle was any less than 9 days, she wouldn't have gotten her medium when wards 25+ had opened.

2mins can in fact be a luxury. (Also lol, 2 mins. Depending on your computer setup it'd take 2+mins just to get in-game, let alone the time it'd take to scout ward by ward, scoping out plot locations that you'd want to bid on, etc) there's even weeks of my own work where I have to pull the equivalency of 3 people's jobs of work that finding the energy to spend even 1 second gaming and not going to bed the moment I get home is a luxury.
Japan notoriously has very draconian work cultures that make it hard for people to find time to do gaming at all.

Yoshi-P chose 9 days because he understands that a sizeable amount of people aren't terminally online, that plenty have extremely busy & hectic schedules.

    As if he cares lmao

It's just an artificial way of making housing less of an issue by creating some fake availability while we both know that if the rounds happened more often, all houses would be gone in a single round or two, showing the flaws in the housing system and the extreme scarcity.

Also if they have to cater to every single person with IRL work schedules and other things, then we might as well make it an entire month, just in case someone is in hospital maybe ? Why would they have to miss the lottery ? Doesnt seem very fair to me.

He does care. The game would be designed differently if he didn't.

They're also not trying to cater to everyone's real life schedules. They are keeping in mind the schedules of the average player. Most players aren't playing daily regardless of what some players who are able to play daily may want to think.. The typical MMO player will play about 8 hours a week spread out over 2-3 days. That is something that got researched at the height of the COVID lockdowns when more people were stuck at home and had more time available to be playing.

If they do cater to the average player, then there would be no issue making the lottery cycles last 5 or 7 days instead of 9, after all as I mentioned a million times, bidding takes but a minute or two, and yes, if you are on a business trip, well sorry, as I also said, some people are in hospital and also miss the lottery, some people are with family and also miss the lottery, and even more people miss the lottery for whatever reason.

This system of 9 days just hides the extreme scarcity of houses by making it slow and painful, getting people to lose over and over again, having to go collect their gil and enjoy the great walk of shame, and then have to wait 10 years to be able to bid only to lose again.

I'll repeat a thing I said one last time, it these rounds were faster, so about 5 days, in 3 or 4 rounds there would be absolutely nothing left, and it would show the flaws of this crappy house system in full blast, dont think he "cares", it's just for show so they can say the situation is fine and not act.

I agree, You should be able to lose and enter again at a rapid pace, even daily because that would soothe your painful losses. Spreading out these lotteries over time gives you way too much time to heal while enjoying other content.

It is your opinion and we will respect that; but is it persuasive?
Not really...... at least to me being a 9 to 5 working class.
Although, I have ability to log in everyday, but not every 9 to 5 working class has that leisure.
Your comment also sound like you dont have responsibility in reality, yet.
Resulting why you do not understand why it is a 9 days instead of 7 days.

One of FF14 strenigh as MMORPG is not just because it is a theme park, it also that the game don't force you to log in everyday.
It is polar opposite of WoW, you won't develope a feeling that if you did log in for one day and you will end up as far behind than others.
No, FF14 do not have that; therefore I think 9 days is fine
