dont forget all the people using bots for personal crafting, you think the guy that sits at the market board crafting 8 hours is doing that manually?
A gil sink is not for everyone and is only hard to obtain for those who don't play the game of gil-making. The golden mounts were implemented as a way to drain away some gil. Yet for the people who engage in making gil will always have more gil than they know what to do with as they can just throw a few million away to buy pentamelded gear because its less time consuming than actually doing the melding and gathering and crafting themselves. There is even some more notable players who are gil capped and are basically billionaires.
I would add some distinction between botting with a large pool of generic characters that do something relatively simple and automation of more complex actions for a poll of few characters that aren't that easily replaceable and probably human-played before being able to be automated. Either way, both things are bad.
The goal isn't really to end rich players(that would be impossible), its more to give the average player more optional grinds and stuff to attain while heating the economy. Mainly aiming at the hypercasual crowd who logs in to do the MSQ/roulette, chat a little, and play a bit with their glamours, not much more.A gil sink is not for everyone and is only hard to obtain for those who don't play the game of gil-making. That's the point, MSQ+roulette over some time is enough to buy most things these players would be interested in, so there's less of an incentive to do more.
Glamours, mounts, minions, and materia. Those are the main gold sinks for the average player outside of housing. If they still have more gil, then they might have already bought what they wanted, like having a glamour they enjoy more than what comes after. Maybe I am wrong, but my impression from the average player is saving enough gil to potentially buy a medium or even a large house and this would be a big investment for them. The goal isn't really to end rich players(that would be impossible), its more to give the average player more optional grinds and stuff to attain while heating the economy. If there was some harder incentive for more players to for example have combat retainers and put leather on MB the market would just crash or do it sooner than a bit later. If you move gil from roulette to something else then it's just a pointless new system intended to generate a bit of gil without any other purpose. And if you move it from roulette to for example tribes then you just pushing focus from one content to another for no apparent reason. Why people can't play how and what they want? Not everyone wants to gather, craft, do retainers for profits or buy excess stuff when they have other options.
I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm saying that XIV should offer more tradeable cosmetic stuff per patch and some options that remove gil from circulation while giving a benefit to the player. People would be able to keep doing what they already do just fine, they'd just have more available things to aim for.If there was some harder incentive for more players to for example have combat retainers and put leather on MB the market would just crash or do it sooner than a bit later. I edited my post to make it clearer. I want the mogstation trade post to be expensive, not everything else.

Gil is pretty worthless. I like to make a ton and then give it all away so newer people can buy some glam.
