I basically agree with the thread; transferring to a new server should not be the only way to get a good house; the system is dumb, archaic, and needs a good looking at.

It's arguably better now vs back when when it was spam clicking placards or always having to be ready to relocate at the drop of a dime.
Losing to RNG sucks, and I really think they could tweak the system a bit more so it's easier to place bids and collect your gil if you didn't win, but getting a house used to arguably be a full time job instead of just bid and forget.
Watching forum drama be like
I 100% believe determined individuals had way better luck before the lottery system. You can have 100+ entries on a good large but it would never be camped by 100+ people. The lottery system just made it easier for everyone with alts to put in multiple entries. I would rather go back to the free trading of houses; larges wouldn't be 1 bil gil to buy from another player if that were the case. The whole system is completely borked. It's arguably better now vs back when when it was spam clicking placards or always having to be ready to relocate at the drop of a dime.

Why not skip all the bots and placard clicking and just let players trade houses without restriction again? Aftermarket prices would be a A LOT cheaper than they are now. 1 bil for a large and 500 mil for a medium is bonkers. Larges used to be 200-300 mil and mediums were 70-150 mil -ish
Letting people trade houses would make it too convenient and easy, housing has to be torture and you have to wait a 5 days bidding period, then go and claim your gil and enjoy the walk of shame, you will do it and you will like it, square enix doesnt like convenience, its more fun for them if you suffer through these 9 days cycle over and over again and lose every time. Why not skip all the bots and placard clicking and just let players trade houses without restriction again? They were cheaper because they were all resold. Now only a small portion are resold because resellers lose the lottery to real buyers. Fewer houses resold means a higher price. There has also been quite a lot of inflation since then. Why not skip all the bots and placard clicking and just let players trade houses without restriction again? Trading houses must have been before my time… but I really miss instant relocation.![]()
This walk of shame is a diffirent issue (and one they should solve)
But the cycle itself is not an issue. 9 days might be a long cycle. But it barely matters as the number of available houses doesnt change over time anyway. Either it could for example be 1 per day, or 9 every cycle. And with 9 per cycle, the odds are generaly visualy better (instead of 270 people on 1 house every day, its more likely 30 on 9), even though effectively its the same: 9/270 get a house. It removes the daily online requirement which is a positive thing.
And that its 270 people bidding is again another issue (lack of supply). And again, its not the lottery, or the cycle of the lottery being the issue here.
There is an underlying reason for that though, because if the rounds were faster, we'd run out of houses even faster, showing the flaws in the system and the absolute scarcity of housing (on NA only minus Dyna, I cant tell about JP, but EU is fine)This walk of shame is a diffirent issue (and one they should solve)

The problem itself should be fixed, this is not fixing anything its just delaying it
