yes.
doing the chain fates in the tempest someone said "hey, a highlander that looks good"
I don't think they've seen a lot of highlanders xD

A handful but a lot less since I haven't really been wearing "cute" outfits.
In general I don't think many people consider my Miqo really cute to begin with since I decided to not have the clan markings showing. To me I always felt like it made my character more serious which I just like for cutscenes and just story purposes in general. I sometimes think about fantaing and adding the markings though.

Oh yeah quite a number of times. There was a point I felt like someon was complimenting my look at least once a week back when I was on most days.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.

A few times back when I started out as a Miqote.
2 times as my Current FemRoe

I've gotten a couple of compliments back in the day (and also the question "why can not see you pant?" from a Lalafel, which is really what sparked the roleplay element amongst my friends of looking at Lalafel as being mistaken for being of the Capybara tribe from Abertal and the Plantation), while roaming around.
These days, I don't really look at the chat box (save for those times in PVP where I just can't ignore the 20-30 sound effects from the angry shotcaller), so even if someone did say something, I probably wouldn't notice it.

Yes, a few times for some of my healer glams...and one for a DRK build. Nice to be noticed.![]()

Not to toot my own flute, but the compliments I've received from random strangers over the years have been quite flattering. I think it helps that elezen are less common to see around, so perhaps folks are more curious to get a look at me because of that. Portraits and Adventure Plates have made an impact too, I think. The other day, I was in one of the Nier raids and somebody in another party shouted to the whole alliance that they all need to check out my plate, lol. Uh, I was definitely caught off-guard being called out like that in front of everyone but it was a sweet gesture in its own way.
Then... there was that time in MSQ Roulette I got a pervy tank who could not stop being cringe and lusting after the "sexy elf" and asking me if I'd be his permanent healer. NOT a good compliment, they wouldn't shut up, and it was just creepy and weird. Perhaps it would have been amusing if I revealed to them I am a man IRL, but I chose to just laugh it off internally and not converse too much. Sort of feels like I got a TINY glimpse into what it must be like for women to play online games, or even try and have a normal day in public without harassment. I'm sorry for what you have to go through, it's unbelievable.
Anyway, on a lighter note, I also have my miqo'te character who I just think is the most adorable, cute-as-a-button little cinnamon roll in all of existence -- and she does get her share of compliments too, but still not as much as my elezen. I don't know what it is, maybe there's just too many catgirls and not enough elezen..?

You say that like tome gear can't be cool itself. Some of those designs are great. Also, other gear doesn't somehow become less significant for being glamoured over tome gear.
Same for dungeon gear – those sets are some of the best sources for glamour, and doubly so if you don't want to be wearing the same generic glamour pieces as everyone else.
I think you're more likely to get compliments over those kinds of gear, not less.
