Actually I did somewhat foreseen that this would happen. When cross world teleport was implemented a similar situation already occurred , and since this cause the player's play style to change, it's a bit off the mark to say that players managed to find something that can improve their own experience but players are used to the method they are comfortable with so if we are told to come out with method to address this immediately then the solution would be setting up parties that are applicable to players of same DC only for high difficulty content, and while this would be the fastest solution we'll be wondering the point of DC Travel here. People would of course go "ok since we can travel to other DC then make it so that the matching with other DC a possibility as well" and we could do that but if we do so we wouldn't be implementing DC Travel anyway so considering we have reached a point where we can travel to other DCs without having to pay extra..this is not to say we are giving up but this will require a long term solution here so we can't really provide you an instant answer.
Also since this involves DC travel behind the scenes. Like for example both me and Foxclon are at different logical DC, and somehow we make the party recruitment accessible through penetration and managed to join despite being at different DCs, then when we match up to enter content, this will definitely happen where people like me would travel from my original DC to Foxclon's DC, and depending on the traffic this would take like 3, 4 minutes in order to enter the content, or even take 10 minutes and above ....to tell you the truth we still need to observe further before we take any decision. No matter what our short term solution will include implement something like a shutter, and ultimately it's still better to use DC Travel and travel from one point to the other so that everyone gathers at one point...so yeah please give us some time to observe the situation further first.
Also to people suggesting limiting where players can do content in any way, it would make DC travel pointless like Yoshi'P says. The entire reason people do it is to play with their friends.

As OP already said, it's definitely not the case. You have to visit your house once a month, and that's it.
Even with all of the disadvantages that come with being off your home DC(not being able to enter instances like the Firmament or Island Sanctuary, not being able to sell stuff) people still spend more time on other DCs.
Being with your friends and having faster queues is more important to most people.

2 points:Ok first im on Dynamis is where i notice this issue (also i know we are new, i know we have half the servers and all that). Right now the FC i am in has about 73 members but we have ~27% of those player who log on are already on another DC and haven't been on Dynamis in weeks (possibly month or longer). I realize if a lot of FC have this that is a lot of potential players that really are not on our server at all in the end. I understand it incentives for newer players and fresh ones to come to server like this (road to 80, the feathers and such which is why i am in a group of 4 friends came here) My thing is OTHER than just buying a house (which seems to be the main reason most more veteran players came to this server) do you think FFXIV should give players of newer servers / less populated more incentives to stay on their DC and do stuff here vs it creating a thing where despite you being on a DC you really never do any actually activities or engagement in that DC (dungeon, pvp, alliance raid and so on). Idk just was something i was wondering as a newer player (been playing since Nov so just have 1 job at 90 so far) but it just seems yea getting people to move to the DC isn't super bad just cuz you put housing fishing hook out there but the problem becomes more engagement in that DC and keeping players there to help invest in its growth and community vs just being a extension of houses for another datacenter
1- as we get more expansions and patches, new people will arrive in Dynamis. And they will make it with 8 servers at some point in future. So, as the population grows, like you said, around 27% will continue to travel and do stuff in another DC, but 73% will stay on Dynamis, making it grow as the population grows. We just need to have patience. In the beginning, all servers and DCs suffered the same. So, it's normal to struggle in a new DC like this in it's first year.
2- someday, the DC travel will be available for different regions. So, maybe all the queues will be cross-region as well. In this way, no matter how much new DCs they make in the world, "everyone" will queue with more people.
So, in general, just wait for it. like Yoshida loves to say: "just look forward to it" and "we appologise for any inconvenience this may cause" also, "return to the Waking Sands at your earliest convenience" '-'

I don't really agree that people only cross-DC with their friends. In the case of Dynamis, some people go to other DCs for the specific purpose of faster queues. I have no friends on Aether but I'll go there because it's literally impossible to get a frontline queue otherwise. This was brought up in a recent Q&A:

To be fair I thought DC travel was stupid and it causes the issues Dynamis has now. As other have stated over and over it's better to server hop to queue. Which is terrible for Dynamis as it lowers the people who actually queue there. My FC is half dc travelers to queue. You barely see them and barely communicate. It's wonderful /sThis was brought up in a recent Q&A:

Seriously cross dc queuing. Some must die so that others may live.
That is the incentive to transfer a veteran character to the DC. However after you have your housing there's no incentive to be part of the community, to do any content, nor even really stay on the server as you can just DC travel back to the server you came from and keep doing what you were before
I understand the waiting and being patient and once Yoshi is done with XVI he can dedicate more of his time back to this. I was just trying to ballpark a short-term solution maybe not considered but it is true as someone previous pointed there's not much carrot on a stick to incentivize players to stay, higher mount drop % I fear would have the inverse effect where anyone wanting a mount would just DC transfer here till where they left suffered similar fate.
