I dont want to spend money on another game, but I would need to. Spending 2 subs at once (because I have house in FF I like and doing ultimates with static I dont want to leave) can be felt. And I bet there is more people like me, who would like to play more games, but are frustrated by its challenges, if you know what I mean. And also, if I join wow, I would like to engage with engame and there is 6.4 soon. I dont know how people have time to raid in WoW and FF at the same time. They dont go to work? :/.
A lot of them do. But all they do is raid once at level cap, and they're usually part of large FCs that will help boost them up to current raid gear standards quickly. That's far more difficult to do if you're playing mostly as a solo player, especially in WoW.

Is that 9 month wait not worth it for something new?

Better than the 11-16 month content gaps that WoW has had in the past between the final content patch of one expansion and the release of the next expansion. We're not talking about dliuted content being released in those months. There was zero new content of any sort and man, were the WoW players angry.

It was bad enough waiting for Cataclysm's release (though at least Blizzard did add Ruby Sanctum even if no one liked doing it). The waits between Cata and MoP, then MoP and WoD were abysmal.

Or it's you enjoyed different things about WoW than I did. I can't agree that Cataclysm was great. It had a brief period during Firelands where it had started to pick itself up after falling then fell right back down again during Dragon Soul. There went a couple of million players.

I did thoroughly enjoy MoP and it's a shame that so many players judged it harshly because "pandaland". There went another couple of million players.

WoD was terrible. Flat out terrible. I was in the beta and didn't bother buying it for release because I could see how bad it was going to be. It wasn't until after the Paragon interview disaster and multiple friends asking me to come back that I got the expansion. It was still bad, even though I was able to catch up to my friends very fast thanks to knowing what to do from beta. It had lost a couple of million players within 6 months of launch and almost lost half of the remaining players following the Paragon interview. It still lost at least another million players at that time (and gee, Blizzard stopped releasing subscriber stats, wonder why).

Legion was decent compared to WoD but to me it still had its problems. I did not like world quests (though at least they were better than WoD's Assault Missions). I hated the Artifact Power grind. Order Halls didn't end up adding anything interest to the game other than more forced grind to get the "right" Order Hall traits unlocked. I was spending more time playing FFXIV and other games than I was spending playing Legion. I quit for good at the end of Legion, the nonsense with the Burning of Teldrassil in the pre-patch was the final nail in the coffin.

What happened with WoW after that I only know from sites like MMOChamp and other media reports, not from being there.

So what was good to you was not good to me or millions of others.
